The Asia Pacific glass reinforced plastic market covers parts, profiles, pipes and moulding compounds made from glass fibre embedded in a thermoset or thermoplastic resin and sold in Asia Pacific. Douglas Insights sizes it at USD 22.71 billion in 2025, about 8.11 million tonnes at an average USD 2,800 per tonne, and at USD 39.21 billion in 2035, a 5.61% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) from 2026. The study is the Asia Pacific row of our worldwide [Glass Reinforced Plastic Market](https://www.douglasinsights.com/glass-reinforced-plastic-market/) model and sits beside our [U.S. Glass Reinforced Plastic Market](https://www.douglasinsights.com/u-s-glass-reinforced-plastic-market/) and [Fiberglass Cloth Market](https://www.douglasinsights.com/fiberglass-cloth-market/) reports; every figure follows the Douglas Insights [research methodology](https://www.douglasinsights.com/research-methodology/).

## Which glass reinforced plastic process earns the most value: thermoplastic compounds, infused parts or pultruded profiles?

Short-fibre thermoplastic compounds earn the most, 34.0% of 2025 Asia Pacific glass reinforced plastic value or about USD 7.72 billion, Douglas Insights estimates. Pultruded profiles grow fastest, at 9.4% a year to USD 3.77 billion by 2035.

| Process | Share 2025 | Value 2025 | CAGR 2026-2035 | Value 2035 |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Short-fibre thermoplastic compounds | 34.0% | USD 7.72 billion | 5.0% | USD 12.66 billion |
| Resin infusion and RTM parts | 17.0% | USD 3.86 billion | 6.6% | USD 7.25 billion |
| Hand lay-up and spray-up parts | 12.0% | USD 2.73 billion | 2.8% | USD 3.69 billion |
| Sheet and bulk moulding compounds | 12.0% | USD 2.73 billion | 5.2% | USD 4.55 billion |
| Filament wound and centrifugally cast products | 11.0% | USD 2.50 billion | 5.8% | USD 4.39 billion |
| Long-fibre and glass mat thermoplastics | 7.0% | USD 1.59 billion | 6.2% | USD 2.89 billion |
| Pultruded profiles | 7.0% | USD 1.59 billion | 9.4% | USD 3.77 billion |

Thermoplastic compounds lead because the region moulds most of the world's cars, appliances and electrical housings, and a glass-filled polyamide or polypropylene pellet is the cheapest way to put glass fibre into a part. Their 34.0% share sits a point above the 33.0% worldwide figure, and at 5.0% a year they reach USD 12.66 billion by 2035. Resin infusion and resin transfer moulding (RTM) parts, about USD 3.86 billion, are mostly wind blade shells and spar caps, and grow 6.6% a year to USD 7.25 billion as blades get longer and more blade factories open outside China.

Hand lay-up and spray-up parts, USD 2.73 billion, grow only 2.8% because boat hulls, tanks and small-batch covers move to closed moulds when labour costs rise. Sheet and bulk moulding compounds, also USD 2.73 billion, grow 5.2% on battery covers and electrical enclosures. Filament wound and centrifugally cast pipes, tanks and cylinders, USD 2.50 billion, grow 5.8% on water projects and composite gas cylinders. Long-fibre and glass mat thermoplastics, USD 1.59 billion, grow 6.2%, and pultruded profiles, USD 1.59 billion, grow fastest at 9.4% on solar module frames, cable trays and rebar. Process values for 2035 sum to USD 39.19 billion, 0.04% below the headline.

## How does Asia Pacific glass reinforced plastic split by end use and resin?

Transportation buys about 33.0% of 2025 Asia Pacific glass reinforced plastic value, roughly USD 7.49 billion, Douglas Insights estimates; construction and infrastructure buys 20.0% and electrical and electronics 16.0%. Thermoplastics are the leading resin at 45.0%.

Wind energy takes 15.0% of value, about USD 3.41 billion, well above its weight in Europe or North America because the region builds four of every five new turbines. Electrical and electronics, about USD 3.63 billion, grows fastest at about 7.4% a year to USD 7.30 billion, as circuit-board laminates, switchgear housings and battery enclosures take more glass. Pipes and tanks, about USD 2.04 billion or 9.0%, grow 6.8% on water transmission, desalination and sewer lining; marine takes 3.0% and consumer and sports goods 4.0%. End-use values for 2035 sum to USD 38.66 billion, 1.40% below the headline.

By resin, thermoplastics hold about 45.0% of value, unsaturated polyester 38.0%, epoxy 11.0% and vinyl ester 6.0%, all Douglas Insights estimates. Epoxy's share is higher than its share of tonnage because blade laminates and pressure vessels pay the most per kilogram, while unsaturated polyester remains the default for hand lay-up, sheet moulding and pipe. The thermoplastic share rises to about 47% by 2035 as compounders win more under-bonnet and battery parts.

## What drives Asia Pacific glass reinforced plastic growth: wind blades, vehicles, electronics or water pipes?

Glass reinforced plastic tonnes sold in the region rise 4.10% a year in our base case, from about 8.11 million in 2025 to 12.12 million in 2035. Four drivers add 5.30 gross points; restraints remove 1.20.

### Wind blade laminate: 1.50 points

Wind blades are the largest driver, worth 1.50 points. China's National Energy Administration counted 119.33 GW of new wind capacity in 2025 and about 640 GW in service, up 22.9%, in data [released on 28 January 2026](https://pvtime.org/?p=24777), also reported by [China Daily](https://cn.chinadaily.com.cn/a/202601/28/WS69799ee1a310942cc499d230.html). India's Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) said the country added a record 6.05 GW in the year to March 2026, beating the 5.5 GW of 2016-17 and taking capacity above 56 GW, [PTI reported on 6 April 2026](https://www.theweek.in/wire-updates/business/2026/04/06/india-achieves-highest-ever-annual-wind-energy-capacity-addition-of-6.05-gw-in-2025%E2%80%9326.html). At about 5.6 tonnes of blade laminate per MW, a Douglas Insights estimate, 131.8 GW of regional additions used about 740,000 tonnes of glass reinforced plastic worth about USD 3.41 billion.

### Vehicles and electric drivetrains: 1.40 points

Vehicles add 1.40 points. China built 34.53 million vehicles in 2025, up 10.4%, and new energy vehicle (NEV) production and sales each passed 16 million, more than half the total, the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) figures [published on 15 January 2026](https://www.chinaservicesinfo.com/s/202601/15/WS69688ea5498e23165e06ccaa/chinas-auto-production-sales-rank-first-globally-for-17th-consecutive-year.html) show. India sold a record 46.43 lakh passenger vehicles in the year to March 2026, up 7.9%, and 10.8 lakh commercial vehicles, up 12.6%, the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) data [reported on 14 April 2026](https://www.autocarpro.in/news/auto-industry-hits-7-year-peak-in-fy26-as-all-segments-log-record-sales-132106) show. Douglas Insights estimates about 26 kg of glass reinforced plastic per Chinese car, rising to about 31 kg by 2035 as battery trays, covers and front-end modules use more glass-filled compounds.

### Electronics and circuit-board glass: 1.20 points

Electronics add 1.20 points. China Jushi started a line at Huai'an on 18 March 2026 with 100,000 tonnes of electronic-grade glass fibre and 390 million metres of electronic cloth a year, which it called about 9% of world capacity, as cloth prices rose on demand for artificial intelligence (AI) server boards, [10jqka reported on 19 March 2026](https://stock.10jqka.com.cn/20260319/c675420039.shtml). Jushi sold 1.062 billion metres of electronic cloth in 2025, its [annual report of 20 March 2026](https://stockmc.xueqiu.com/202603/600176_20260320_45TB.pdf) shows, and Chongqing Polycomp International (CPIC) grew electronic cloth sales 23.14% in 2025, its [annual report of 23 April 2026](https://mtz.china.com/touzi/2026/0423/229239.html) shows.

### Water pipes, cylinders and profiles: 1.20 points

Pipes, cylinders and profiles add the last 1.20 points. Supreme Industries, India's largest plastic pipe maker, sold 184,455 tonnes of plastic goods in the quarter to 30 September 2026, up 19.44%, with piping volume up about 24%, and said all three state oil marketing companies have started buying its composite LPG cylinders, its [release of 26 October 2026](https://nsearchives.nseindia.com/corporate/SUPREMEIND_26102026132132_Q2PressRelease.pdf) states. Summed, 1.50 + 1.40 + 1.20 + 1.20 = 5.30 points, a Douglas Insights estimate; after 1.20 points of restraints the 4.10% tonnage leg multiplied by the 1.45% price leg gives the 5.61% revenue rate.

## What holds back the Asia Pacific glass reinforced plastic market: fibre overcapacity, trade duties or weak building demand?

Three restraints remove 1.20 points a year from tonnage growth: weak building demand takes 0.50 points, trade duties on exported parts and fibre 0.40 points, and recycling and labour limits 0.30 points.

Weak building demand is the largest drag because construction buys about 20.0% of value and Chinese property starts keep falling, which slows orders for panels, gratings and sanitary ware. Overcapacity upstream also caps prices: China made 8.43 million tonnes of glass fibre yarn in 2025, up 11.5%, and capacity held back by earlier output controls is being "rapidly released", China Jushi said in its [2025 annual report](https://stockmc.xueqiu.com/202603/600176_20260320_45TB.pdf), which also warned of "structural overheating" in specialty electronic fibre, with RMB 13.38 billion of projects mostly due around 2027. Sinoma Science and Technology's average wind blade price fell from RMB 437,700 to RMB 348,100 per MW across the three years shown in its [filing of 20 October 2026](https://static.cninfo.com.cn/finalpage/2026-10-20/1225610595.PDF), which also notes continuing oversupply of mid- and low-end fibre.

Trade duties take 0.40 points because many regional plants were built to export. The European Union set definitive anti-dumping duties of 11.0% on Jushi Egypt, 11.8% on CPIC Abahsain in Bahrain and 15.3% to 25.4% on Thai producers of glass fibre rovings, chopped strands and mats, applying from 15 April 2026, as corrected by [Implementing Regulation (EU) 2026/1371 of 22 June 2026](https://eur-lex.europa.eu/eli/reg_impl/2026/1371/oj/eng/pdf). India's Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR) recommended five-year duties of USD 194 to USD 394 a tonne on glass fibre from China, Bahrain and Thailand in final findings of 12 September 2025, [KNN India reported](https://knnindia.co.in/news/newsdetails/sectors/exportimports/anti-dumping-duty-imposed-on-glass-fibre-imports-from-china-bahrain-thailand-for-5-years). Recycling and labour limits take the final 0.30 points: thermoset parts cannot be remelted, and hand lay-up shops lose volume as wages rise, a Douglas Insights estimate.

## Which Asia Pacific country buys the most glass reinforced plastic, and where does value grow fastest: China, Japan or India?

China buys the most Asia Pacific glass reinforced plastic value, about USD 13.17 billion or 58.0% of 2025 sales. India grows fastest, at 9.6% a year to USD 4.93 billion by 2035, on wind blades, vehicles, pipes and composite cylinders.

| Country or sub-region | Value 2025 | Share 2025 | Value 2026 | CAGR 2026-2035 | Value 2035 |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| China | USD 13.17 billion | 58.0% | USD 13.92 billion | 5.55% | USD 22.64 billion |
| Japan | USD 2.16 billion | 9.5% | USD 2.28 billion | 2.6% | USD 2.87 billion |
| India | USD 2.04 billion | 9.0% | USD 2.16 billion | 9.6% | USD 4.93 billion |
| Southeast Asia | USD 2.04 billion | 9.0% | USD 2.16 billion | 6.6% | USD 3.84 billion |
| South Korea | USD 1.25 billion | 5.5% | USD 1.32 billion | 3.8% | USD 1.85 billion |
| Australia and New Zealand | USD 908.4 million | 4.0% | USD 960.1 million | 3.9% | USD 1.35 billion |
| Rest of Asia Pacific | USD 1.14 billion | 5.0% | USD 1.20 billion | 4.5% | USD 1.78 billion |

China leads because it built 120.5 GW of the region's 131.8 GW of new wind in 2025, by [GWEC counts](https://www.gwec.net/news/global-wind-installations-rise-record-40-as-industry-charts-way-out-of-energy-crisis), and makes about half the world's cars. Its value grows 5.55% a year to USD 22.64 billion, slower than India because Chinese wind additions are expected to settle after the 2025 peak and building demand stays weak. Japan, USD 2.16 billion, grows only 2.6% on mature car and housing-equipment demand, and South Korea, USD 1.25 billion, grows 3.8% on ships, cars and offshore wind.

India, USD 2.04 billion, grows fastest at 9.6% from about 0.80 million tonnes at USD 2,550 a tonne, a Douglas Insights estimate, as wind, vehicles, water pipes and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders all expand. Southeast Asia, USD 2.04 billion, grows 6.6% to USD 3.84 billion as moulders and fibre plants relocate to Thailand, Malaysia and Vietnam; Australia and New Zealand, USD 908.4 million, grow 3.9% on mining, water and marine parts; and the rest of the region, led by Taiwan, grows 4.5%. Country values sum to USD 24.00 billion in 2026, matching the headline, and USD 39.26 billion in 2035, 0.13% above it.

## Which companies lead the Asia Pacific glass reinforced plastic market, and how concentrated is it?

Sinoma Science and Technology leads the Asia Pacific glass reinforced plastic market with about 3.6% of 2025 value, a Douglas Insights estimate, ahead of Kingfa at 2.4% and Zhuzhou Times at 2.0%. The top six hold 10.3%.

| Company | Base and position | Latest filed figure | Estimated share 2025 |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Sinoma Science and Technology | Beijing; wind blades, glass fibre and composite parts | Revenue RMB 30.195 billion, 2025 | 3.6% |
| Kingfa Science and Technology | Guangzhou; glass-filled engineering compounds | Not used in this study | 2.4% |
| Zhuzhou Times New Material | Zhuzhou; wind blades and composite parts | Not used in this study | 2.0% |
| Ming Yang Smart Energy | Zhongshan; turbines with in-house blades | 2025 net profit RMB 0.8 billion to 1.0 billion, preliminary | 1.2% |
| Teijin Automotive Technologies | Tokyo and Auburn Hills; moulding compounds and parts | Not split by region | 0.8% |
| Supreme Industries | Mumbai; pipes and composite LPG cylinders | 184,455 tonnes of plastic goods, quarter to 30 September 2026 | 0.3% |

Sinoma Science and Technology grew revenue to RMB 30.195 billion in 2025 from RMB 23.984 billion and net profit to RMB 1.818 billion from RMB 0.892 billion, and four turbine makers took 84.51% of its blade sales, its [October 2026 filing](https://static.cninfo.com.cn/finalpage/2026-10-20/1225610595.PDF) shows; we count about USD 0.82 billion of its sales as glass reinforced plastic parts sold in the region. Ming Yang Smart Energy expected 2025 net profit of RMB 0.8 billion to RMB 1.0 billion, up 131% to 189%, on more turbine deliveries, its [notice of 28 January 2026](https://data.fca.org.uk/artefacts/NSM/RNS/737a61e2-19c5-4df7-a603-5b4b73453b40.html) states.

Fibre makers sit one step upstream and are not counted as sellers of parts. China Jushi grew 2025 revenue 19.08% to RMB 18.881 billion and sold 3.2026 million tonnes of roving and products, its [annual report](https://stockmc.xueqiu.com/202603/600176_20260320_45TB.pdf) shows; CPIC grew revenue 17.60% to RMB 8.658 billion and holds more than 25% of wind fibre supply, its [2025 report](https://mtz.china.com/touzi/2026/0423/229239.html) states; and India's Praana Group closed its purchase of Owens Corning's glass reinforcements business at an enterprise value of USD 645 million, [announced on 30 April 2026](https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20260430997267/en/Owens-Corning-Completes-Sale-of-Glass-Reinforcements-Business-to-Praana-Group). Thousands of small moulders share most of the remaining 89.7%.

## What does glass reinforced plastic cost per tonne in the region, and how fast does the price rise?

Glass reinforced plastic sold in the region averages USD 2,800 a tonne in 2025, Douglas Insights estimates, 8.2% below the USD 3,050 world average, from about USD 2,100 for compounds to USD 4,600 for blade laminate.

The regional average sits below the world figure because Chinese compounders and moulders run at large scale on locally made fibre, and because cheap hand lay-up and sheet moulding parts make up a larger share of tonnage. Filament wound pipe averages about USD 2,600 a tonne and pultruded profiles about USD 3,100, all Douglas Insights estimates. The price leg takes the average to about USD 2,841 in 2026 and USD 3,234 in 2035.

Two forces set the 1.45% price leg. Fibre makers have pushed prices back up: Jizhong, Shandong Fiberglass and others raised roving and chopped-strand mat yarn prices 5% to 10% on 4 and 5 September 2025, with G75 electronic yarn at RMB 8,300 to RMB 9,200 a tonne, [Tiger Brokers reported](https://www.itiger.com/news/1174166424), and CPIC and other leaders raised electronic cloth prices for a fourth round since October 2025 on 4 February 2026, [Tiger Brokers reported](https://www.itiger.com/news/1184077383). Chinese electronic cloth prices rose more than 50% in 2025, [UDN reported on 23 February 2026](https://money.udn.com/money/story/5607/9338993). Against that, falling blade prices and a growing share of cheaper Indian and Southeast Asian parts pull about 0.9 points back, a Douglas Insights estimate.

## Which rules govern glass reinforced plastic in the region, from local-content lists to trade remedies?

Three layers govern Asia Pacific glass reinforced plastic: local-content lists such as India's wind supplier list amended on 31 July 2025, industrial policy such as China's building materials plan of 24 September 2025, and trade remedies on glass fibre.

The local-content layer is strictest in India. MNRE's amended Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) procedure for wind requires blades, towers, gearboxes, generators and special bearings to come from listed suppliers; these parts are 65% to 70% of turbine cost, and Chinese turbine makers' share of Indian installations rose from about 10% in 2018-19 to 40% to 45% in 2024-25, CRISIL Ratings said in a [release of 5 August 2025](https://www.crisilratings.com/en/home/newsroom/press-releases/2025/08/almm-wind-procedure-amended-to-nudge-wind-oems-to-make-in-india.html). The rule pushes blade moulding, and the glass fabric it uses, into Indian plants.

The industrial policy layer is set in China, where the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) and five other ministries issued a work plan for steady growth in building materials for 2025 to 2026 on 24 September 2025, promoting low-dielectric glass fibre, targeting more than RMB 300 billion of green building materials revenue in 2026 and banning new cement clinker and flat glass capacity, [Yicai reported](https://www.yicai.com/news/102840264.html). The trade remedy layer is the European and Indian duties above, which shift fibre and part exports between plants in China, Egypt, Bahrain and Thailand. Douglas Insights treats the Indian duty decision as the main policy swing for Indian moulders' costs.

## What if wind installations slow or electronics demand runs hotter: how large is the Asia Pacific glass reinforced plastic market in 2035?

The Asia Pacific glass reinforced plastic market ends 2035 between USD 30.57 billion and USD 48.68 billion across three cases, around a USD 39.21 billion base. Chinese wind additions and fibre prices set most of the spread.

| Case | Tonnage leg | Price leg | Revenue rate | 2035 value |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Slower | 2.30% | 0.70% | 3.02% | USD 30.57 billion |
| Base case | 4.10% | 1.45% | 5.61% | USD 39.21 billion |
| Faster | 5.60% | 2.20% | 7.92% | USD 48.68 billion |

In the slower case Chinese wind additions fall back toward 80 GW a year, property demand keeps shrinking and fibre overcapacity holds prices flat, taking 1.80 points off the tonnage leg and 0.75 points off price. In the faster case India and Southeast Asia keep doubling wind and vehicle output, AI server demand keeps electronic cloth tight and pultruded rebar wins public works, adding 1.50 points to tonnes and 0.75 points to price. One extra point of yearly revenue growth adds about USD 3.87 billion to 2035 value, and one point less removes about USD 3.56 billion, Douglas Insights estimates.

Company signals bracket the base case. China Jushi grew first-half 2026 revenue 22.50% to RMB 11.159 billion and sold 1.7004 million tonnes of roving, [Xinhua Finance reported on 20 August 2026](https://www.cnfin.com/yw-lb/detail/20260820/4457959_1.html), while blade prices kept falling. Our 5.61% rate sits between strong fibre volumes and soft part prices.

## Douglas Exclusive: the Fibre Price Pass-Through Ledger

The Fibre Price Pass-Through Ledger is a Douglas Insights model built from 10 inputs: 4 official documents, 4 company disclosures and 2 broker-sourced price reports. It tracks how fast fibre price moves reach finished part prices.

| Date | Input | What it moves |
| --- | --- | --- |
| 31 July 2025 | India ALMM wind amendment covers blades | Indian blade volume |
| 4-5 September 2025 | Chinese roving prices up 5% to 10% | Fibre price |
| 12 September 2025 | DGTR recommends USD 194 to USD 394 a tonne | Indian fibre cost |
| 24 September 2025 | MIIT building materials plan | Chinese building demand |
| 4 February 2026 | Fourth round of electronic cloth rises | Electronics price |
| 18 March 2026 | Jushi Huai'an electronic fibre line starts | Electronics supply |
| 20 March 2026 | Jushi: China yarn output 8.43 million tonnes | Fibre supply |
| 15 April 2026 | EU duties on Egyptian, Bahraini and Thai fibre apply | Export price |
| 1 May 2026 | Praana closes Owens Corning reinforcements deal | Fibre supply |
| 20 October 2026 | Sinoma filing: blade price RMB 348,100 per MW | Blade price |

The finding, a Douglas Insights estimate: glass fibre makes up about 28% of the cost of an average part, so a 7.5% roving rise lifts part cost about 2.1%, and moulders recover about 60% of that, or 1.3 points, within two quarters. Compounders and pipe makers pass costs on fastest; blade makers, who sell to four or five turbine buyers, pass on the least, which is why blade prices fell even as roving rose.

The ledger changes how to read 2027. If the specialty fibre capacity due around 2027 arrives on time, Douglas Insights expects electronic cloth prices to fall and the regional price leg to slip toward 1.0%; if AI server demand absorbs it, the price leg holds near 1.6%, and electronics moulders gain share from building-product makers.

## How does the methodology turn 8.11 million tonnes into USD 22.71 billion?

Our methodology multiplies about 8.11 million tonnes of glass reinforced plastic sold in Asia Pacific by an average USD 2,800 per tonne to reach USD 22.71 billion in 2025, then grows tonnes 4.10% and price 1.45% a year.

The model covers 7 processes, 7 end uses, 4 resins and 7 countries or sub-regions, using 64 data points, 22 sourced and 42 modelled. Tonnes come from wind installation counts, vehicle output, company volumes and fibre production; prices come from fibre price reports, company filings and part cost build-ups, all Douglas Insights estimates. Arithmetic: 8.111 million x USD 2,800 = USD 22.71 billion; USD 22.71 billion x (1.0410 x 1.0145)^10 = USD 39.20 billion, within 0.03% of the USD 39.21 billion headline. Tonnes reach about 8.44 million in 2026 and 12.12 million in 2035.

Two cross-checks agree. First, USD 22.71 billion is the Asia Pacific row of our worldwide model, 51.0% of its USD 44.53 billion total, and our 5.61% rate equals that row's rate. Second, 131.8 GW of 2025 wind additions at about 5.6 tonnes per MW and USD 4,600 a tonne give USD 3.40 billion, within 0.3% of the wind end-use value. AI tools help draft the text and automated checks test the arithmetic and links; the Douglas Insights research desk chooses the sources, builds the model and approves publication, as our [editorial standards](https://www.douglasinsights.com/research-methodology/) explain.

## What counts in the Asia Pacific glass reinforced plastic study, and what is excluded?

The study counts glass fibre reinforced parts, profiles, pipes, laminates and moulding compounds sold in Asia Pacific, valued at the moulder's or compounder's selling price. Loose glass fibre, carbon fibre composites and unreinforced plastics are excluded.

The study splits value by 7 processes, 7 end uses, 4 resins and 7 countries or sub-regions: China, Japan, India, Southeast Asia, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand and the rest of Asia Pacific.
