NatureWorks opened its fully integrated polylactic acid (PLA) plant at Nakhon Sawan, Thailand, with about 75,000 tonnes a year of capacity, its [release of 29 April 2026](https://natureworksllc.com/about/news/press-releases/2026-04-29-natureworks-announces-grand-opening-thailand) states, while biobased plastics capacity reached 2.31 million tonnes in 2025 and ran at 72% utilisation, European Bioplastics' [market data of 2 December 2025](https://docs.european-bioplastics.org/PR/2025/EUBP_Press_Release_Market_data_2025.pdf) shows. The biodegradable polymers market covers PLA, polybutylene adipate terephthalate (PBAT), starch blends, polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA), polybutylene succinate (PBS) and cellulose-based and other biodegradable resins sold to converters and compounders. Douglas Insights sizes it at USD 3.71 billion in 2025, about 1.40 million tonnes at an average USD 2,650 a tonne, and at USD 7.24 billion in 2035, a 6.92% compound annual growth rate (CAGR). The study sits in our [bio-based chemicals coverage](https://www.douglasinsights.com/industry/bio-based-chemicals/), beside the [Biodegradable Paper and Plastic Packaging Market](https://www.douglasinsights.com/biodegradable-paper-and-plastic-packaging-market/), [Polyurethane Market](https://www.douglasinsights.com/polyurethane-market/) and [Electric Vehicles Polymers Market](https://www.douglasinsights.com/electric-vehicles-polymers-market/) reports; every figure follows the Douglas Insights [research methodology](https://www.douglasinsights.com/research-methodology/).

## Which biodegradable polymer earns the most: PLA, PBAT, starch blends or PHA?

PLA earns the most, 32.0% of 2025 biodegradable polymer value or about USD 1.19 billion, Douglas Insights estimates. PHA grows fastest, 14.0% a year to USD 1.24 billion by 2035, as new fermentation capacity comes on stream.

| Polymer type | Share 2025 | Value 2025 | CAGR 2026-2035 | Value 2035 |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| PLA | 32.0% | USD 1.19 billion | 7.6% | USD 2.47 billion |
| PBAT | 26.0% | USD 965 million | 5.0% | USD 1.57 billion |
| Starch blends | 14.0% | USD 519 million | 5.6% | USD 896 million |
| PHA | 9.0% | USD 334 million | 14.0% | USD 1.24 billion |
| PBS and PBSA | 5.0% | USD 186 million | 3.0% | USD 249 million |
| Cellulose-based, PCL and other | 14.0% | USD 519 million | 5.2% | USD 862 million |

PLA leads because it is the only biodegradable polymer made at world scale from sugar, and it held 26.4% of all biobased plastics capacity in 2025 against 4.9% for biobased PBAT and 4.7% for PHA, European Bioplastics' [Market Data Report 2025](https://docs.european-bioplastics.org/publications/market_data/2025/EUBP_Market_Data_Report_2025.pdf) shows. On 2.31 million tonnes of capacity, that is about 610,000 tonnes of PLA, a Douglas Insights calculation. PLA value grows 7.6% a year to USD 2.47 billion as the Thailand plant and Futerro's planned Normandy biorefinery add tonnes.

PBAT, USD 965 million, is the second largest because Chinese producers make it from fossil feedstock at low cost and blend it into compostable bags and mulch film; European Bioplastics counts only its biobased share, so most PBAT sits outside that dataset. PHA, USD 334 million, grows fastest: European Bioplastics expects PHA to reach 16.8% of biobased capacity by 2030, up from 4.7%, its [2025 report](https://docs.european-bioplastics.org/publications/market_data/2025/EUBP_Market_Data_Report_2025.pdf) states. Starch blends, USD 519 million, grow 5.6%. PBS and PBSA, USD 186 million, grow slowest at 3.0% after Mitsubishi Chemical's exit. Type values for 2035 sum to USD 7.29 billion, 0.58% above the headline.

## Which end uses buy biodegradable polymers, from flexible packaging to mulch film?

Flexible packaging buys the most biodegradable polymers, 38.0% of 2025 value or about USD 1.41 billion, Douglas Insights estimates. Rigid packaging and foodservice ware grow fastest, 8.2% a year to USD 1.80 billion by 2035.

| End use | Share 2025 | Value 2025 | CAGR 2026-2035 | Value 2035 |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Flexible packaging and bags | 38.0% | USD 1.41 billion | 7.0% | USD 2.77 billion |
| Rigid packaging and foodservice ware | 22.0% | USD 816 million | 8.2% | USD 1.80 billion |
| Fibres and nonwovens | 13.0% | USD 482 million | 5.2% | USD 801 million |
| Agriculture and horticulture | 12.0% | USD 445 million | 6.6% | USD 844 million |
| Consumer goods and other | 15.0% | USD 557 million | 6.0% | USD 997 million |

Packaging leads because shopping, produce and compost bags and food contact films are where single-use bans bite first. Packaging took 41.3% of biobased plastics capacity in 2025, about 0.95 million tonnes, with flexible packaging at 26.6% and rigid packaging at 14.7%, and European Bioplastics expects rigid packaging to rise to 24.8% by 2030, its [2025 market data](https://docs.european-bioplastics.org/publications/market_data/2025/EUBP_Market_Data_Report_2025.pdf) show. BASF launched new home-compostable ecovio grades for coffee, snack and pet food pouches, up to 80% biobased, its [release of 29 April 2026](https://www.basf.com/global/en/media/news-releases/2026/04/p-26-083) states.

Rigid packaging and foodservice ware, USD 816 million, grow fastest as cutlery, cups and capsules move to PLA and PHA; CJ CheilJedang agreed to supply PHA to Indian compounder Konspec for cutlery, the [Herald Korea reported on 30 March 2026](https://www.heraldk.com/article/2026032915451740439). Fibres and nonwovens, USD 482 million, grow 5.2%. Agriculture, USD 445 million, grows 6.6% on soil-biodegradable mulch film. Consumer goods and other uses, including 3D printing filament, take USD 557 million. End-use values for 2035 sum to USD 7.21 billion, 0.48% below the headline.

## What drives biodegradable polymer demand: compostable packaging rules, new PLA plants or Chinese volume?

Biodegradable polymer tonnage rises 8.0% a year in our base case, from about 1.40 million tonnes in 2025 to about 3.02 million in 2035. Four drivers add 9.60 points of gross growth; restraints remove 1.60 points.

### Mandatory compostable packaging formats: 2.80 points

Regulation is the largest driver, worth 2.80 points. Article 9 of the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation, [Regulation (EU) 2025/40](https://eur-lex.europa.eu/eli/reg/2025/40/oj), requires fruit and vegetable stickers, permeable tea, coffee and beverage bags and soft single-serve units to be industrially compostable from 12 February 2028, and lets Member States extend that to very lightweight carrier bags, European Bioplastics' [explainer of 7 October 2025](https://www.european-bioplastics.org/article-9-ppwr-why-certain-packaging-formats-should-be-compostable-2/) states. Douglas Insights estimates the three mandatory formats alone need about 90,000 tonnes of biodegradable resin a year in the European Union by 2030, about 6% of 2025 world tonnage.

### New integrated PLA and lactic acid capacity: 2.60 points

New plants add 2.60 points by lowering cost and securing supply. The NatureWorks Nakhon Sawan site makes sugarcane-based lactic acid, lactide and about 75,000 tonnes a year of PLA, its [29 April 2026 release](https://natureworksllc.com/about/news/press-releases/2026-04-29-natureworks-announces-grand-opening-thailand) shows, and Futerro filed permit applications for an integrated lactic acid and PLA biorefinery at Saint-Jean-de-Folleville, aiming for production by early 2029 at the latest, its [filing release of 9 December 2025](https://www.futerro.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/FUTERRO-OFFICIALLY-SUBMITS-PERMIT-APPLICATIONS-FOR-ITS-FUTURE-BIOREFINERY.pdf) states. European Bioplastics forecasts biobased capacity of about 4.69 million tonnes in 2030, more than double 2025, with biodegradable types rising from 46.8% to 51.9%, its [2 December 2025 release](https://docs.european-bioplastics.org/PR/2025/EUBP_Press_Release_Market_data_2025.pdf) and charts show; that is about 2.43 million tonnes, a Douglas Insights calculation.

### Chinese compounding volume: 2.40 points

China's compounders add 2.40 points. Kingfa Sci. and Tech., the largest Chinese modified plastics group, sold 226,300 tonnes of biodegradable plastics in 2025, up 25.37%, within group revenue of RMB 65.40 billion, up 8.07%, its [2025 annual report summary of April 2026](https://pdf.dfcfw.com/pdf/H2_AN202604201821350913_1.pdf) and the [24 April 2026 write-up](https://stock.stockstar.com/SS2026042400045927.shtml) of it show. Kingfa's tonnes alone equal about 16% of our 2025 world volume. Douglas Insights estimates that Chinese PBAT and starch compounds supply about 45% of global biodegradable polymer tonnes, sold at home and exported to Europe and Southeast Asia.

### Brand-owner compostable launches: 1.80 points

New product launches add the last 1.80 points. BASF's barrier ecovio grades, launched on [29 April 2026](https://www.basf.com/global/en/media/news-releases/2026/04/p-26-083), target sachets and pouches, the hardest packaging to recycle mechanically, and TotalEnergies Corbion began selling PLA with 30% and 100% chemically recycled content from Rayong in March 2025, [Hydrocarbon Engineering reported on 10 March 2025](https://www.hydrocarbonengineering.com/petrochemicals/10032025/totalenergies-corbion-provides-worlds-first-commercially-available-recycled-pla). Summed, 2.80 + 2.60 + 2.40 + 1.80 = 9.60 points, a Douglas Insights estimate.

## What holds biodegradable polymers back: weak producer economics or a stalled plastics treaty?

Two restraints remove 1.60 points a year from biodegradable polymer tonnage growth: weak producer economics and exits take 1.00 point, and the stalled global plastics treaty takes 0.60 points.

Producer losses are the heavier drag because they remove capacity and scare buyers away from single-source grades. Danimer Scientific, a US PHA maker, filed for Chapter 11 in the US Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware on 18 March 2025 with only USD 1 million of interim new-money financing, its [Form 8-K](https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1779020/000095017025041367/dnmr-20250318.htm) shows, and sold substantially all its assets, two plants of more than 200,000 square feet and more than 480 patents and applications, to Teknor Apex, its buyer's adviser [SC&H said](https://www.schgroup.com/press-release/sch-capital-advises-teknor-apex-on-its-successful-acquisition-of-the-assets-of-danimer-scientific-from-chapter-11/). Mitsubishi Chemical said on 12 May 2026 it is leaving the PBS business for low profitability after production at PTT MCC Biochem in Rayong stopped in December 2025, [CTI reported from the company notice](https://www.ctiweb.co.jp/en/notice-regarding-withdrawal-from-the-polybutylene-succinate-pbs-business/). Utilisation of 72% across biobased capacity, and as low as 28% for some polymers, shows the oversupply, the [2025 market data](https://docs.european-bioplastics.org/PR/2025/EUBP_Press_Release_Market_data_2025.pdf) state.

The treaty gap takes 0.60 points. Talks on a global plastics treaty in Geneva ended on 15 August 2025 without agreement after 10 days, with more than 1,400 delegates from 183 countries and no date set to resume, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) [said](https://www.unep.org/news-and-stories/press-release/talks-global-plastic-pollution-treaty-adjourn-without-consensus). Without global single-use limits, demand outside Europe and parts of Asia relies on national bans, a Douglas Insights estimate.

## Which region uses the most biodegradable polymers, and where does demand grow fastest?

Asia Pacific uses the most biodegradable polymers, USD 1.78 billion or 48.0% of 2025 value, led by China and Thailand. Asia Pacific also grows fastest, 7.7% a year to USD 3.74 billion by 2035.

| Region | Value 2025 | Share 2025 | Value 2026 | CAGR 2026-2035 | Value 2035 |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Asia Pacific | USD 1.78 billion | 48.0% | USD 1.92 billion | 7.7% | USD 3.74 billion |
| Europe | USD 1.11 billion | 30.0% | USD 1.19 billion | 6.6% | USD 2.11 billion |
| North America | USD 557 million | 15.0% | USD 590 million | 6.0% | USD 997 million |
| Latin America | USD 148 million | 4.0% | USD 159 million | 6.8% | USD 287 million |
| Middle East and Africa | USD 111 million | 3.0% | USD 118 million | 6.4% | USD 207 million |

Asia Pacific leads on production and local bans. Thailand shipped 60,347 tonnes of PLA worth USD 125.3 million in 2025, United Nations [Comtrade](https://comtradeplus.un.org/TradeFlow) data for code 390770 show, before the Nakhon Sawan plant added more; China's Kingfa sold 226,300 tonnes of biodegradable plastics, its [2025 annual report](https://pdf.dfcfw.com/pdf/H2_AN202604201821350913_1.pdf) shows; and India is a new outlet for Korean PHA, the [30 March 2026 Konspec deal](https://www.heraldk.com/article/2026032915451740439) shows. Regional value grows 7.7% a year to USD 3.74 billion.

Europe, USD 1.11 billion, grows 6.6% to USD 2.11 billion on the PPWR compostable formats from 2028 and Futerro's planned plant, and the region (EU27 plus three) ran its biobased plants at 73% in 2025, European Bioplastics' [release](https://docs.european-bioplastics.org/PR/2025/EUBP_Press_Release_Market_data_2025.pdf) states. North America, USD 557 million, grows 6.0%; the United States exported 80,170 tonnes of PLA worth USD 180.0 million in 2025, [Comtrade](https://comtradeplus.un.org/TradeFlow) shows, and Teknor Apex now runs the former Danimer PHA plants. Latin America, USD 148 million, grows 6.8%, and the Middle East and Africa, USD 111 million, 6.4%. Regional values sum to USD 3.97 billion in 2026 and USD 7.34 billion in 2035, 1.30% above the headline.

## Which companies lead the biodegradable polymers market?

NatureWorks and Kingfa lead biodegradable polymers with about 14% and 12% of 2025 value, Douglas Insights estimates, ahead of TotalEnergies Corbion at about 8%. The top five, adding BASF and Novamont, hold about 46%.

| Company | Biodegradable polymer position | Latest reported figure | Source date |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| NatureWorks | Ingeo PLA, US and Thailand | Thailand plant about 75,000 tonnes a year | 29 April 2026 |
| Kingfa Sci. and Tech. | PBAT and compounds, China | 226,300 tonnes sold in 2025, up 25.37% | April 2026 |
| TotalEnergies Corbion | Luminy PLA, Rayong | Recycled-content PLA on sale | 10 March 2025 |
| BASF | ecovio and ecoflex compounds | Home-compostable barrier grades launched | 29 April 2026 |
| CJ CheilJedang | PHA | PHA supply deal with Konspec, India | 30 March 2026 |
| Teknor Apex | PHA (former Danimer Scientific) | Bought two plants and 480+ patents | 25 June 2025 |
| Novamont (Versalis), Futerro, Kaneka | Starch blends, PLA, PHBH | No 2025-26 figures disclosed | Douglas Insights estimate |

Integration is the competitive edge. NatureWorks now controls sugar, lactic acid, lactide and polymer on one Thai site, its [release](https://natureworksllc.com/about/news/press-releases/2026-04-29-natureworks-announces-grand-opening-thailand) states, and Kingfa's new-materials segment, which holds its biodegradable business, earned RMB 4.369 billion of revenue at a 20.59% gross margin in 2025, the [24 April 2026 report](https://stock.stockstar.com/SS2026042400045927.shtml) shows.

Weaker single-product makers are leaving. Teknor Apex bought Danimer's assets after the court approved the sale with no topping bids, [Livingstone Partners](https://livingstonepartners.com/transaction/livingstone-advises-danimer-scientific-on-sale-to-teknor-apex/), Danimer's adviser, states, and Mitsubishi Chemical will liquidate its PBS joint venture once stock is sold, [CTI reported on 12 May 2026](https://www.ctiweb.co.jp/en/notice-regarding-withdrawal-from-the-polybutylene-succinate-pbs-business/). Chinese PBAT makers and regional compounders share the remaining 54%, a Douglas Insights estimate. Buyers increasingly qualify two suppliers per grade after the Danimer and PBS exits, which favours integrated producers with more than 50,000 tonnes a year of capacity and lets them hold price about 5% to 10% above smaller rivals, a Douglas Insights estimate.

## How much does a tonne of PLA, PBAT or PHA cost compared with polyethylene?

A tonne of biodegradable polymer sells for an average USD 2,650 in 2025, Douglas Insights estimates, from about USD 1,750 for Chinese PBAT to USD 5,500 for PHA, against USD 1,230 to USD 1,430 for US polyethylene and polypropylene.

Official trade data set the PLA anchor. Thailand's PLA exports averaged USD 2,076 a tonne in 2025, down from USD 2,292 in 2024, and US PLA exports USD 2,246, down from USD 2,439, while US exports of low-density polyethylene averaged USD 1,296, high-density polyethylene USD 1,226 and polypropylene USD 1,434 a tonne, Douglas Insights calculations from United Nations [Comtrade](https://comtradeplus.un.org/TradeFlow) values and weights show. PLA therefore trades at about 1.6 to 1.8 times commodity resins. Douglas Insights puts PBAT at USD 1,500 to USD 2,000, starch blends at USD 3,000 to USD 4,000 and PHA at USD 4,500 to USD 6,500 a tonne.

Average price falls 1.0% a year in the base case, to about USD 2,400 in 2035, as Thai and Chinese capacity outruns demand. PLA export prices fell 8% to 9% in 2025, the Comtrade series show, and utilisation of 72% leaves room for further cuts. A richer mix, with PHA rising from 9.0% to 17.0% of value, slows the decline, a Douglas Insights estimate.

## What if compostable mandates spread or overcapacity deepens: how large is the biodegradable polymers market in 2035?

The biodegradable polymers market ends 2035 between USD 5.53 billion and USD 9.09 billion across our three cases, around a base of USD 7.24 billion. Mandate breadth and Asian overcapacity set most of the spread.

| Case | Tonnage leg | Price leg | Revenue rate | 2035 value |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Slower | 6.20% | -2.00% | 4.08% | USD 5.53 billion |
| Base case | 8.00% | -1.00% | 6.92% | USD 7.24 billion |
| Faster | 9.60% | -0.20% | 9.38% | USD 9.09 billion |

In the slower case Member States do not extend the PPWR list beyond the three formats, more Western producers close and Chinese PBAT dumping cuts price 2.0% a year. In the faster case very lightweight carrier bags and coffee capsules join the compostable list across the EU, a treaty text revives single-use limits and PHA costs fall toward PLA. One extra point of yearly revenue growth adds about USD 707 million to 2035 value, a Douglas Insights estimate.

Live signals sit near the base case. The Thai PLA plant, Kingfa's 25% volume growth and BASF's launches point up. Danimer's sale, Mitsubishi Chemical's exit and the failed Geneva round point down. Our 6.92% rate weighs strong tonnage against falling price. The signal to watch is utilisation: if European Bioplastics' next dataset shows utilisation above 80%, the faster case gains weight; below 65%, the slower case does. A second signal is whether at least five Member States extend Article 9 to carrier bags before 2028, which Douglas Insights estimates would add about 40,000 tonnes a year of European demand.

## Which rules shape biodegradable polymers, from the PPWR to compostability standards?

Three rule sets shape biodegradable polymers: the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation, which mandates compostable formats from 2028; the EU Single-Use Plastics Directive, which treats most biodegradable items as plastic; and harmonised compostability standards such as EN 13432.

The packaging layer matters most. [Regulation (EU) 2025/40](https://eur-lex.europa.eu/eli/reg/2025/40/oj) entered into force in February 2025 and its Article 9 sets industrial compostability for stickers, tea and coffee bags and single-serve units from 12 February 2028, the [7 October 2025 explainer](https://www.european-bioplastics.org/article-9-ppwr-why-certain-packaging-formats-should-be-compostable-2/) states. Douglas Insights estimates Article 9 adds about 0.30 points a year to European tonnage growth through 2030.

The restriction layer limits growth elsewhere. The [Single-Use Plastics Directive, Directive (EU) 2019/904](https://eur-lex.europa.eu/eli/dir/2019/904/oj), bans plastic cutlery, plates and straws and does not exempt biodegradable or biobased plastics, so PLA cutlery cannot replace them in the EU. Products sold as industrially compostable must meet EN 13432, the European harmonised standard for packaging recoverable through composting. Outside Europe, the UNEP talks that ended on [15 August 2025](https://www.unep.org/news-and-stories/press-release/talks-global-plastic-pollution-treaty-adjourn-without-consensus) left national bans as the main tool.

## Douglas Exclusive: the Biodegradable Capacity Gap Index

The Biodegradable Capacity Gap Index is a Douglas Insights model built from 12 inputs: 7 company releases and filings, 3 industry association datasets and 2 government records, listed below. It measures capacity tonnes per tonne of demand.

| Date | Input | What it moves |
| --- | --- | --- |
| 10 March 2025 | TotalEnergies Corbion: recycled-content PLA | PLA supply |
| 18 March 2025 | Danimer Scientific: Chapter 11 filing (SEC 8-K) | PHA capacity exit |
| 25 June 2025 | Teknor Apex buys Danimer assets | PHA restart |
| 15 August 2025 | UNEP: treaty talks adjourn | Policy demand |
| 7 October 2025 | European Bioplastics: PPWR Article 9 | EU demand |
| 2 December 2025 | European Bioplastics: 2.31 Mt capacity, 72% use | Capacity base |
| 2 December 2025 | European Bioplastics: 4.69 Mt in 2030 | Capacity outlook |
| 9 December 2025 | Futerro: Normandy permit filing | EU PLA supply |
| 2025 data | UN Comtrade: PLA and PE export values | Price |
| April 2026 | Kingfa: 226,300 tonnes sold in 2025 | China demand |
| 29 April 2026 | NatureWorks: Thailand plant opens | PLA supply |
| 12 May 2026 | Mitsubishi Chemical: PBS exit | PBS capacity exit |

The finding, a Douglas Insights estimate: the index stood at about 1.39 in 2025, roughly 1.08 million tonnes of biobased biodegradable capacity against about 0.78 million tonnes produced, matching the 72% utilisation European Bioplastics reports. If capacity reaches about 2.43 million tonnes in 2030 while demand for those grades grows 8.0% a year to about 1.15 million tonnes, the index rises to about 2.1, meaning almost half of new capacity would sit idle.

The index changes how to read the market. Tonnage will grow, but price stays under pressure until the gap closes, so Douglas Insights forecasts value from demand-side tonnes and a falling price leg rather than from announced capacity. Exits such as Danimer and Mitsubishi Chemical's PBS show the gap already removing weaker plants.

## How does the methodology turn 1.40 million tonnes into USD 3.71 billion?

Our methodology multiplies about 1.40 million tonnes of biodegradable polymers consumed in 2025 by an average USD 2,650 a tonne to reach USD 3.71 billion, then grows tonnage 8.0% a year and lowers price 1.0% a year.

The model covers 6 polymer types, 5 end uses and 5 regions, using 58 data points, 22 sourced and 36 modelled. Tonnage has two parts: about 0.78 million tonnes of biobased biodegradable polymers, from 1.08 million tonnes of capacity at 72% utilisation in the European Bioplastics data, and about 0.62 million tonnes of fossil-based biodegradable polymers, mainly Chinese PBAT, PBS and PCL, a Douglas Insights estimate checked against Kingfa's 226,300 tonnes. Arithmetic: 1.40 million x USD 2,650 = USD 3.71 billion; USD 3.71 billion x (1.080 x 0.990)^10 = USD 7.24 billion. Tonnage reaches about 1.51 million in 2026 and 3.02 million in 2035.

Two cross-checks agree. First, Thai and US PLA exports totalled about 140,500 tonnes worth USD 305 million in 2025 in Comtrade data, about 30% of our PLA tonnes, consistent with most PLA being traded across borders. Second, biodegradable polymers at 1.40 million tonnes equal about 0.3% of the 431 million tonnes of all plastics made each year cited by European Bioplastics, in line with biobased plastics at about 0.5%. AI tools help draft the text and automated checks test the arithmetic and links; the Douglas Insights research desk chooses the sources, builds the model and approves publication, as our [editorial standards](https://www.douglasinsights.com/research-methodology/) explain.

## What counts in the biodegradable polymers study, and what is excluded?

The biodegradable polymers study counts PLA, PBAT, starch blends, PHA, PBS and PBSA, cellulose-based resins and PCL sold as resin or compound. Biobased but durable plastics such as bio-PE, bio-PET and bio-PA, and finished products, are excluded.

The study splits value by 6 polymer types, 5 end uses and 5 regions: Asia Pacific, Europe, North America, Latin America, and the Middle East and Africa.
