## Key takeaways

- Gamification software is a USD 4.88 billion market in 2025, built from 21.84 million paid seats at USD 223.50 each.
- Revenue reaches USD 15.39 billion by 2035, rising 12.17% a year.
- Customer loyalty and marketing games grow fastest at 15.30% a year, reaching USD 3.97 billion.
- North America holds 39.2% of 2025 revenue; Asia Pacific grows fastest at 14.85% a year.
- Kahoot!, BI WORLDWIDE and Centrical hold an estimated 13.8% share, so the vendor field stays fragmented.

USD 5.12 million in cash at closing is what Mistplay paid for the Connected Rewards loyalty gamification business of Mobivity Holdings, a sale completed on 26 March 2026 with 6,328,991 Class B shares and an earn-out on top, according to [Mobivity's Form 8-K filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)](https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1447380/000149315226014372/form8-k.htm). Gamification software covers the licensed platforms that turn work, learning and buying into points, leaderboards, contests, badges and rewards; the market includes sales and contact-centre tools, training quiz engines, customer loyalty games and recognition apps. Douglas Insights sizes the gamification software market at USD 4.88 billion in 2025: 21.84 million paid seat-equivalents times a realised USD 223.50 per seat a year. Revenue reaches USD 15.39 billion by 2035, a 12.17% annual rate built from 9.65% seat growth and 2.30% price growth. The study belongs to our [enterprise software](https://www.douglasinsights.com/industry/ict-semiconductors/enterprise-software/) coverage and follows the [Douglas Insights research methodology](https://www.douglasinsights.com/research-methodology/).

## How much do sales gamification platforms charge per user per month in 2025?

List prices for sales gamification platforms run from USD 24 to USD 75 per user per month, before AI add-ons and annual discounts. Douglas Insights puts the realised 2025 average across all gamification software seats at USD 223.50 a year, rising to USD 280.57 by 2035 as AI coaching modules are added.

Ambition, a sales performance and coaching platform, publishes three tiers: Starter at USD 45 per user per month, Pro at USD 65 and Enterprise at USD 75, each with AI Insights at USD 5 and AI Actions at USD 4 per user per month on top, according to its [pricing page](https://ambition.com/pricing/). Ambition contracts run annually on a two-year term, with volume discounts for larger floors. Plecto, a Danish dashboard and gamification vendor, lists its Medium plan at USD 24 per tracked licence per month and its Large plan at USD 37.20, both with a 10-licence minimum and 20% off for annual billing, as its [price list](https://www.plecto.com/pricing/) shows. Contests, a spinning wheel and a reward store sit only in the Large plan.

Realised gamification software spend therefore falls into three bands. Dashboard-led tools billed annually cost USD 230 to USD 360 per seat a year. Coaching-led sales platforms cost USD 540 to USD 1,008 per seat a year once both AI add-ons are bought. Quiz and learning engines sold to whole workforces, plus loyalty engines converted to seat-equivalents, pull the blended figure down to USD 223.50. The 2.30% yearly price leg reflects AI module upsell, partly offset by suite vendors bundling leaderboards for free.

## Which application segment makes the money in gamification software, from sales leaderboards to loyalty games?

Sales and contact-centre performance gamification makes the most money, with 34.7% of 2025 revenue, worth USD 1.69 billion. The segment leads because quota-carrying reps and call-centre agents produce clean daily metrics, so points and contests tie directly to revenue and handle time.

| Segment | Share 2025 | Value 2025 | CAGR 2026-2035 | Value 2035 |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Sales and contact-centre performance | 34.7% | USD 1.69 billion | 11.35% | USD 4.96 billion |
| Employee learning and training | 23.8% | USD 1.16 billion | 12.60% | USD 3.81 billion |
| Customer loyalty and marketing games | 19.6% | USD 956.7 million | 15.30% | USD 3.97 billion |
| HR engagement and recognition | 13.4% | USD 654.1 million | 10.35% | USD 1.75 billion |
| Implementation and program services | 8.5% | USD 414.9 million | 7.85% | USD 883.4 million |

Sales and contact-centre performance software is worth USD 1.69 billion and grows 11.35% a year to USD 4.96 billion, because AI coaching modules lift the price per seat. Employee learning and training gamification holds 23.8%, USD 1.16 billion, since quiz-based refreshers are cheap to roll out across whole workforces. Customer loyalty and marketing games carry 19.6%, USD 956.7 million, and form the fastest-growing segment at 15.30% a year, reaching USD 3.97 billion by 2035 as marketing platforms buy game engines outright. HR engagement and recognition holds 13.4%, USD 654.1 million, growing 10.35% on peer kudos and badges. Implementation and program services take 8.5%, USD 414.9 million, and grow slowest at 7.85% because no-code builders cut set-up work.

Douglas Insights expects the five gamification software segments to total USD 15.38 billion in 2035, within 0.12% of the headline. Scope also splits by deployment, cloud and on-premises, and by organisation size, large enterprises and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Cloud deployment holds well over 90% of new seats in our count.

## Why are AI sales coaching and contact-centre leaderboards boosting gamification software demand?

AI sales coaching and contact-centre leaderboards add 3.40 of the 9.65 points of yearly seat growth in gamification software. Loyalty games inside marketing stacks add 2.75 points, workforce learning quizzes 2.15 points and recognition apps for hybrid teams 1.35 points.

The first driver is AI coaching on the sales floor. Ambition now prices AI Insights and AI Actions as separate add-ons at USD 5 and USD 4 per user per month, a 20.0% uplift on its USD 45 Starter tier, per its [published tiers](https://ambition.com/pricing/). Vendors fold coaching prompts, call scoring and contest design into one console, so a gamification software seat becomes a performance tool rather than a scoreboard. A manager who once read a weekly leaderboard now receives a daily prompt naming which rep to coach and on which deal stage, and that habit is what renews contracts. Douglas Insights credits this pull with 3.40 points of seat growth a year, the largest single contribution, and it keeps the sales and contact-centre segment at 34.7% of revenue through 2035.

The second driver is gamified loyalty inside marketing platforms. Optimove, a customer marketing platform, acquired the Estonian no-code game builder Adact on 3 March 2025, saying gamified experiences lift conversion rates by up to 80%, as its [acquisition note](https://www.optimove.com/blog/optimove-acquires-adact) states. Mistplay followed by agreeing on 16 January 2026 to buy Mobivity's Connected Rewards business for USD 5.30 million in cash before adjustments, per the [signing 8-K](https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1447380/000149315226002779/form8-k.htm), and closed on 26 March 2026. Douglas Insights assigns marketing-led gamification 2.75 points, which explains the 15.30% growth of the loyalty segment.

The third driver is workforce learning. Kahoot! says more than 95% of Fortune 500 companies use its quiz platform for training, presentations and events, and it reports 14 billion cumulative non-unique participants since 2013. Once a quiz engine is used in onboarding, compliance refreshers follow on a 12-month cycle. We credit learning gamification software with 2.15 points of seat growth a year; the classroom side of the same mechanics is sized in our [Gamification in Education Market](https://www.douglasinsights.com/gamification-in-education-market/) study.

The fourth driver is recognition for distributed teams. Centrical, founded in 2013, reports 1.6 million kudos sent and 3.7 million coins earned on its platform so far this year, with Microsoft, Teleperformance and Synchrony Financial among its customers. Recognition and peer badges add 1.35 points. The four contributions, 3.40, 2.75, 2.15 and 1.35, add to the 9.65-point volume leg of gamification software.

## Which headwinds slow gamification software renewals once leaderboard novelty fades?

Three headwinds remove about 2.10 points a year from gamification software seat growth. They are contest fatigue after the first season, suite vendors bundling leaderboards inside customer relationship management (CRM) and human capital management (HCM) tools, and workplace AI rules. Without them, seat growth would run near 11.75%.

Novelty fade is the heaviest drag at 0.95 points. Gamification software lifts activity sharply in the first 90 days, then the bottom half of a leaderboard disengages. Buyers that run one contest and stop renew at lower seat counts, which is why vendors such as Spinify and Ambition now sell managed programs with a strategist attached rather than software alone.

Suite bundling removes 0.70 points. CRM and HCM vendors add badges, points and recognition feeds to licences buyers already hold, so a standalone gamification software tender never starts in many mid-sized firms. The effect is strongest in the HR engagement and recognition segment, which grows only 10.35% a year.

Workplace AI regulation takes 0.45 points. The European Union (EU) AI Act entered into force on 1 August 2024 and banned emotion recognition in workplaces from February 2025, while AI tools for the management of workers count as high-risk systems from 2 December 2027, per the [European Commission](https://digital-strategy.ec.europa.eu/en/policies/regulatory-framework-ai). Gamification software that scores agents on tone or sentiment must be redesigned or switched off for EU staff.

## Which vendors win gamification software contracts after the Mobivity rewards sale?

Kahoot!, BI WORLDWIDE and Centrical hold an estimated 13.8% of 2025 gamification software revenue between them, a top-three concentration that leaves the field fragmented. Douglas Insights estimates Kahoot! at 6.1%, BI WORLDWIDE at 4.2% and Centrical at 3.5%, anchored on disclosed reach and list prices.

| Company | Position built on | Disclosed scale or price |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Kahoot! | Quiz-based learning for workforces and schools | Used by more than 95% of Fortune 500 companies; operates in 195 countries |
| BI WORLDWIDE | Bunchball Nitro enterprise engagement engine | Impact, Impact+ and gamification services |
| Centrical | Contact-centre performance and microlearning | Founded 2013; 1.6 million kudos sent this year |
| Ambition | AI sales coaching and contests | USD 45 to USD 75 per user per month |
| Plecto | Real-time dashboards, contests and reward store | USD 24 to USD 37.20 per licence per month |
| Optimove | Adact no-code games for marketers | Acquired Adact on 3 March 2025 |
| Mistplay | LoyaltyPlay with Connected Rewards | USD 5.12 million cash paid at closing |
| Spinify | Sales leaderboards with managed programs | Active in 115 or more countries |

Kahoot! is the reach leader: after delisting in 2024 it is owned by Goldman Sachs Asset Management, General Atlantic, KIRKBI and its managers, and employs more than 600 people. BI WORLDWIDE sells Bunchball Nitro as embeddable gamification software for automotive, retail and financial services clients. Centrical wins large contact-centre outsourcers. Ambition and Spinify compete on sales floors, Plecto on transparent per-licence pricing. The marketing side is consolidating: Mistplay paid USD 5.12 million in cash plus shares at the 26 March 2026 closing of the Connected Rewards deal, per the [closing 8-K](https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1447380/000149315226014372/form8-k.htm), and Optimove bought Adact. Douglas Insights tracks 8 profiled vendors here; together they hold under 25% of 2025 revenue by our estimate.

## Where do gamification software seats concentrate by region?

North America leads gamification software with USD 1.91 billion in 2025, 39.2% of the world total, because US sales floors and contact centres adopted leaderboards first. Asia Pacific grows fastest at 14.85% a year as Indian and Philippine outsourcers gamify agent floors.

| Region | Value 2025 | Share 2025 | CAGR 2026-2035 | Value 2035 |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| North America | USD 1.91 billion | 39.2% | 10.95% | USD 5.41 billion |
| Europe | USD 1.32 billion | 27.1% | 11.60% | USD 3.96 billion |
| Asia Pacific | USD 1.09 billion | 22.4% | 14.85% | USD 4.37 billion |
| Latin America | USD 322.2 million | 6.6% | 13.10% | USD 1.10 billion |
| Middle East and Africa | USD 229.4 million | 4.7% | 9.19% | USD 552.8 million |

North America grows 10.95% a year to USD 5.41 billion in 2035. Europe holds USD 1.32 billion, 27.1% of revenue, and grows 11.60%; Nordic vendors such as Plecto and Kahoot! anchor supply, while the AI Act shapes product design. Asia Pacific starts at USD 1.09 billion and reaches USD 4.37 billion, led by business process outsourcing floors. Latin America is worth USD 322.2 million and grows 13.10% on Spanish and Portuguese contact-centre hubs. Middle East and Africa is the wildcard at USD 229.4 million, growing 9.19% to USD 552.8 million, because a few Gulf bank and telecom loyalty programs decide the regional figure in any given year.

## Which AI Act rules must workplace gamification software comply with when it scores staff?

Workplace gamification software sold in the EU must comply with the AI Act ban on workplace emotion recognition, in force since February 2025, and with high-risk duties for worker-management AI from 2 December 2027. General-purpose AI obligations apply from 2 August 2025.

The [Commission's AI Act page](https://digital-strategy.ec.europa.eu/en/policies/regulatory-framework-ai) lists AI tools for employment, management of workers and access to self-employment among high-risk use cases. A gamification software module that ranks agents, assigns tasks or feeds promotion decisions with AI falls in that list, so vendors need risk management, logging and human oversight before the 2027 date. Plain points and badges driven by rules, not AI, stay outside it. Douglas Insights models the compliance cost inside the 0.45-point regulatory drag rather than as a price increase.

## How many contact-centre seats does a gamification software roll-out need before contests pay back?

A 50-seat contact-centre floor pays USD 11,520 to USD 50,400 a year for gamification software at list, depending on vendor and AI add-ons. Plecto claims an average performance lift of 15% and returns of 4.0 times its cost within 12 months.

The 10-licence minimum on Plecto plans sets the floor for a team. At USD 24 per licence a month with 20% off for annual billing, 10 seats cost USD 2,304 a year. Payback depends on agent value: a gamification software seat at USD 230.40 a year needs only a small lift in sales or handle time to clear its cost. Our [Time Tracking Tool Market](https://www.douglasinsights.com/time-tracking-tool-market/) study covers the activity data that many floors feed into these leaderboards.

## Which industries buy gamification software beyond sales floors and call centres?

Financial services, telecommunications, retail and technology firms buy about 58% of gamification software seats outside pure sales teams, Douglas Insights estimates, with learning and loyalty uses growing faster than sales contests. Plecto lists Verisure, Nets and REMA 1000 among its customers.

BI WORLDWIDE names automotive, financial services, retail, technology, manufacturing and healthcare as its served industries. Centrical counts Teleperformance, Webhelp and Swiss Life as customers. Kahoot! sells to corporate training teams through its Motimate and Actimo products. Software teams use similar mechanics inside sprint tools, a link our [Agile Project Management Tools Software Market](https://www.douglasinsights.com/agile-project-management-tools-software-market/) report explores.

## What if AI coaching agents absorb gamification software by 2035?

The base case reaches USD 15.39 billion in 2035; a slower path ends at USD 11.25 billion and a faster one at USD 20.74 billion. Douglas Insights calculates that one extra point of yearly seat growth adds USD 1.46 billion to the 2035 gamification software figure.

The slower case runs 7.10% seat growth and 1.50% price growth: suites bundle leaderboards and AI Act duties push EU buyers to rule-based badges. The base case keeps 9.65% and 2.30%. The faster case, 12.20% and 3.00%, assumes AI coaching becomes a paid layer on every sales and service seat and marketing platforms keep buying game engines, as Mistplay did with its 26 March 2026 Connected Rewards closing reported in the [SEC filing](https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1447380/000149315226014372/form8-k.htm). Published forecasts for the broader gamification category put annual growth between 17.08% and 33.60%; our 12.17% sits below that range because we count licensed software seats, not consulting, rewards or consumer apps.

## Douglas Exclusive: the Gamification Seat-Price Tracker

The Gamification Seat-Price Tracker is a Douglas Insights model built from 10 published list-price inputs. They are Ambition's three tiers, its two AI add-on prices and its two-year term, and Plecto's two plan prices, 20% annual discount and 10-licence minimum. The tracker shows what a 50-seat team pays a year on each route.

| Route | Per seat per month | Per seat per year | 50 seats per year |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Plecto Medium, annual | USD 19.20 | USD 230.40 | USD 11,520 |
| Plecto Large, annual | USD 29.76 | USD 357.12 | USD 17,856 |
| Ambition Starter | USD 45 | USD 540 | USD 27,000 |
| Ambition Starter with both AI add-ons | USD 54 | USD 648 | USD 32,400 |
| Ambition Pro | USD 65 | USD 780 | USD 39,000 |
| Ambition Enterprise | USD 75 | USD 900 | USD 45,000 |
| Ambition Enterprise with both AI add-ons | USD 84 | USD 1,008 | USD 50,400 |

The tracker finds a 4.4-fold spread between the cheapest and dearest list route, USD 230.40 against USD 1,008 per seat a year. Our blended realised price of USD 223.50 sits 3.0% below the cheapest list route, which is consistent with learning and loyalty seats priced under sales floors. AI add-ons raise the Ambition Enterprise seat by 12.0%. On a two-year Ambition term, the top route commits a 50-seat team to USD 100,800.

## How the model turns 21.84 million gamification seats into the 2025 total?

The gamification software model multiplies 21.84 million paid seat-equivalents by USD 223.50 a year to reach USD 4.88 billion, across 5 regions, 5 segments and 10 tracker inputs. Seats reach 54.87 million and the realised price USD 280.57 in 2035.

A seat-equivalent is a named employee user, or a customer-facing loyalty licence converted at the average seat price. The model uses 28 company data points from 8 vendors and 4 regulatory dates. Cross-check one: the USD 5.30 million agreed price for the Connected Rewards business is consistent with a small loyalty vendor in our long tail. Cross-check two: published 2025 sizes for broad gamification run from USD 16.23 billion to USD 26.3 billion; ours is 30.1% of the low end because it excludes services, rewards fulfilment and consumer apps. The 2026 value is USD 5.48 billion.
