How big is the logic analyzer business? USD 483.3 million in 2025, rising to USD 887.5 million by 2035 at 6.27% a year. The Logic Analyzer Market covers instruments that capture and time-correlate many digital signals at once: benchtop and modular analyzers, portable units, PC-based USB pods and the digital channel options sold on mixed-signal oscilloscopes. Douglas Insights builds the 2025 figure from 618,400 units at an average realised price of USD 781.5, which multiplies to USD 483.3 million. Ownership moved in mid-2025, when Fortive completed the spin-off of Ralliant, the Tektronix parent, with shares distributed on 28 June 2025 ([Fortive release filed with the SEC](https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1659166/000165916625000104/ex991-pressrelease.htm)). The study belongs to our [sensors and instrumentation coverage](https://www.douglasinsights.com/industry/ict-semiconductors/sensors-instrumentation/), and every number follows the [Douglas Insights research methodology](https://www.douglasinsights.com/research-methodology/).

## How much does a logic analyzer cost per digital channel in 2025?

Between USD 7 and USD 296 per digital channel, depending on tier. A 32-channel Digilent Digital Discovery lists at USD 229, Saleae USB pods run USD 499 to USD 1,499, and a 16-channel Rohde and Schwarz MXO5-B1 option costs USD 4,730, so logic analyzer channel prices span 41.3 times.

Douglas Insights puts the blended 2025 realised price at USD 781.5 per unit, rising 1.71% a year to about USD 926 by 2035. The average hides a skewed mix. PC-based USB logic analyzers sell in the hundreds of dollars, while high-channel benchtop mainframes for DDR work are quote-only: Keysight lists its 16862A, 16863A and 16864A portable analyzers at 68, 102 and 136 channels with 12.5 GHz timing zoom, but publishes no list price.

Realised price bands sit in four steps. Entry USB pods: USD 229 to USD 499. Professional USB analyzers: USD 999 to USD 1,499, where the Logic Pro 16 adds 500 MS/s digital sampling. Oscilloscope digital options: USD 1,599 for a RIGOL MSO5204 with 16 digital inputs (probe extra) up to USD 4,730 for the MXO5-B1 add-on. Benchtop logic analyzer systems: five figures and up, sold on quotation.

Price growth of 1.71% a year comes from channel mix, not list-price inflation. Memory buses such as LPDDR6 push buyers toward deeper memory and faster timing, and each step up the ladder costs several times more per channel.

## What does the logic analyzer scope include, and where does it stop?

Four logic analyzer product types worth USD 483.3 million sit inside the 2025 scope, sold into embedded system debugging, DDR memory validation, serial protocol decoding and FPGA verification. Standalone protocol exercisers, bit error ratio testers and automated test equipment for wafer sort sit outside the boundary.

Logic analyzers are distinct from oscilloscopes because they record many digital lines against a shared clock rather than a few analog waveforms. Channel counts in scope run from up to 16 channels on USB pods, through 17 to 64 channels on scope options and portable units, to above 64 channels on modular systems. End users counted are semiconductor and electronics firms, automotive suppliers, aerospace and defense primes, and education labs.

Wafer-level testers belong to the [Semiconductor Test Equipment Market](https://www.douglasinsights.com/semiconductor-test-equipment-market/), and production testers for converters and RF chips sit in the [Mixed Signal Test System Market](https://www.douglasinsights.com/mixed-signal-test-system-market/). Neither is counted here, which keeps the USD 483.3 million base free of double counting.

## Which logic analyzer product type makes the money?

Benchtop and modular logic analyzers lead with 31.4% of 2025 revenue, or USD 151.8 million, because DDR and LPDDR validation teams still need 68 to 136 channels and deep memory. PC-based USB logic analyzers grow fastest, at 8.9% a year, as embedded developers buy their own pods.

| Logic analyzer segment | Share 2025 | Value 2025 | Growth 2026-2035 | Value 2035 |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Benchtop and modular logic analyzers | 31.4% | USD 151.8 million | 4.1% | USD 226.9 million |
| Mixed-signal oscilloscope digital channel options | 28.1% | USD 135.8 million | 6.6% | USD 257.3 million |
| PC-based USB logic analyzers | 22.9% | USD 110.7 million | 8.9% | USD 259.7 million |
| Portable logic analyzers | 17.6% | USD 85.1 million | 5.3% | USD 142.6 million |

Benchtop and modular logic analyzers hold USD 151.8 million; the share rests on memory-bus validation, where state analysis at 1.4 Gb/s is still beyond any scope option. Growth of 4.1% a year takes the tier to USD 226.9 million by 2035.

Mixed-signal oscilloscope digital channel options take 28.1%, or USD 135.8 million. Engineers who already own a scope add 16 digital inputs for a fraction of a standalone logic analyzer, and the tier grows 6.6% a year.

PC-based USB logic analyzers account for USD 110.7 million, a 22.9% share. At 8.9% a year they reach USD 259.7 million by 2035, nearly level with the benchtop tier, because firmware teams buy one pod per engineer instead of sharing a lab instrument.

Portable logic analyzers make up the last 17.6%, or USD 85.1 million. Field service and rack-side debug keep the tier growing 5.3% a year.

## Why are LPDDR6 memory buses and firmware benches lifting logic analyzer demand?

Three forces add 4.48 points of annual unit growth to logic analyzer shipments: memory-bus validation (1.62 points), embedded firmware debug on USB pods (1.51 points) and automotive serial networks (1.35 points). Together they lift units from 618,400 in 2025 to about 958,500 by 2035.

Memory validation is the first driver, worth 1.62 points. JEDEC released the JESD209-6 LPDDR6 standard on 9 July 2025, with two sub-channels per die and 12 data lines per sub-channel, and Keysight was among the test vendors quoted at launch ([JEDEC announcement](https://www.jedec.org/node/9557)). Each new DRAM generation forces memory controller teams to re-qualify timing, and that work runs on logic analyzers with deep state memory. Keysight positions its portable logic analyzers for DDR4, LPDDR4 and earlier buses, and DDR5 and LPDDR5 benches follow on its DDR analyzer line.

Firmware debug on PC-based pods adds 1.51 points. Saleae sells an 8-channel pod at USD 499 and a 16-channel pod at USD 1,499, with 25 or more protocol decoders bundled; Digilent prices 32 channels at USD 229. At those prices a logic analyzer becomes a personal tool rather than a shared asset, and Douglas Insights counts roughly 123 thousand USB-tier units shipped in 2025 on a USD 900 tier average.

Automotive serial networks add 1.35 points. Zonal vehicle architectures multiply CAN, LIN, SPI and automotive Ethernet links, and every electronic control unit bring-up needs timing captured across dozens of lines. Semiconductor activity underlines the base: the Semiconductor Industry Association put 2025 chip sales at USD 791.7 billion, up 25.6%, with logic products at USD 301.9 billion ([SIA annual sales release](https://semiconductors.org/global-annual-semiconductor-sales-increase-25-6-to-791-7-billion-in-2025/)). Supply-side tooling outside our scope, such as the [Automotive Radar Test Systems Market](https://www.douglasinsights.com/automotive-radar-test-systems-market/), grows from the same vehicle electronics content.

Education and test-lab refresh sits inside the firmware leg. Digilent's Digital Discovery captures 32 channels at 200 MS/s, or 8 channels at 800 MS/s, for less than a single oscilloscope probe set, so universities equip whole benches at once. Douglas Insights reckons teaching labs bought about 9.6% of 2025 logic analyzer units, almost all of them in the USB tier. Saleae's Logic MSO, which adds 2 or 4 analog inputs at 100 or 200 MHz, widens the same buyer pool further.

Taken together, the drivers explain why unit growth of 4.48% outruns price growth of 1.71%. The logic analyzer population widens faster than it moves upmarket, and the three legs of 1.62, 1.51 and 1.35 points add exactly to the 4.48% volume leg.

## Which headwinds slow standalone logic analyzer purchases?

Two headwinds remove 1.03 points from logic analyzer unit growth, cutting a gross 5.51% to the 4.48% base. Mixed-signal oscilloscopes absorbing digital capture take 0.61 points, and long instrument lives plus refurbished supply take 0.42 points, mostly from the benchtop tier.

Scope absorption is the larger drag at 0.61 points. Tektronix now steers TLA7000 buyers to its 5 and 6 Series MSO, which split eight FlexChannel inputs into up to 64 digital channels, and calls the TLA7000 logic analyzer discontinued. Each scope sale that carries digital inputs is one standalone logic analyzer not bought, which caps the benchtop tier at 4.1% a year.

Instrument longevity removes 0.42 points. Benchtop logic analyzers stay in labs for 10 years or more, rental fleets list 68-channel 16862A units for short projects, and refurbished mainframes undercut new quotes. Ralliant's Test and Measurement sales fell from USD 937.5 million in 2024 to USD 801.5 million in 2025, a 14.5% drop, showing how capital budgets for lab instruments tightened ([Ralliant full-year 2025 results](https://investors.ralliant.com/news-events/press-releases/detail/119)).

## Which companies win logic analyzer orders, and on what strengths?

Keysight Technologies leads with an estimated 24.6% share of 2025 logic analyzer revenue, and the top three suppliers hold 50.1%. Douglas Insights estimates these shares from product breadth, channel counts and disclosed group revenues, since no supplier reports logic analyzer sales separately.

| Company | Estimated share 2025 | Estimated logic analyzer revenue | Position built on |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Keysight Technologies | 24.6% | USD 118.9 million | 68 to 136 channel portable and DDR analyzers |
| Tektronix (Ralliant) | 15.8% | USD 76.4 million | MSO FlexChannel digital capture, TLA installed base |
| Teledyne LeCroy | 9.7% | USD 46.9 million | HDO mixed-signal scopes with 16 digital channels |
| Rohde and Schwarz | 8.3% | USD 40.1 million | MXO5-B1 16-channel mixed-signal option |
| RIGOL Technologies | 6.9% | USD 33.3 million | MSO5000 scopes with 16 digital inputs |
| Saleae | 4.4% | USD 21.3 million | USB pods with 500 MS/s sampling and open decoders |
| Digilent | 2.7% | USD 13.0 million | 32-channel Digital Discovery at USD 229 |

Keysight's position rests on its high-channel line; its estimated USD 118.9 million logic analyzer revenue is about 2.2% of the USD 5.37 billion the group reported for fiscal 2025 ([Keysight fourth-quarter release, 24 November 2025](https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1601046/000160104625000121/exhibit991-q425pressrelease.htm)). Tektronix sits second at 15.8%, now inside Ralliant after the 28 June 2025 separation; its estimated USD 76.4 million equals 9.5% of Ralliant's USD 801.5 million Test and Measurement sales.

Teledyne LeCroy holds 9.7% through HDO mixed-signal scopes that integrate 16 digital channels at 2.5 GS/s. Rohde and Schwarz takes 8.3% by selling the MXO5-B1 option at USD 4,730. RIGOL Technologies, at 6.9%, wins price-sensitive labs with the MSO5204 at USD 1,599.

Saleae, at 4.4%, owns the developer desk with Logic 8, Logic Pro 8 and Logic Pro 16 pods and now the Logic MSO, which pairs up to four analog inputs with 8 to 20 digital channels. Digilent, at 2.7%, anchors university teaching labs. Others, including Chinese USB pod makers, share the remaining 27.6%.

## Where are logic analyzer channels bought, region by region?

Asia Pacific is the largest logic analyzer region with USD 175.0 million in 2025, ahead of North America at USD 162.9 million. Asia Pacific also grows fastest, at 7.45% a year, because memory, handset and automotive electronics design centres keep moving there.

North America spends USD 162.9 million and grows 5.6% a year to USD 280.9 million, carried by processor, memory controller and defense electronics teams. Europe, at USD 103.4 million, grows 4.9% a year on automotive and industrial controller work. Asia Pacific reaches USD 359.0 million by 2035.

Latin America is small at USD 18.8 million but grows 6.4% a year as Mexican electronics assembly adds debug benches. The Middle East and Africa, the wildcard, holds USD 23.2 million and grows 7.04% a year; a single university or defense lab programme can swing its total by several points.

## How does SPI, I2C and UART decoding change who uses a logic analyzer?

Serial protocol decoding, not raw timing, sells the USD 110.7 million PC-based USB logic analyzer tier in 2025. Developers buy it for SPI, I2C and UART decoders, and Saleae bundles 25 or more decoders with trigger-on-protocol search.

Douglas Insights estimates that embedded system debugging and serial protocol decoding together drive about 54.3% of 2025 logic analyzer units, while DDR memory validation and FPGA verification drive 45.7% of revenue-weighted demand. The split matters for suppliers. Units come from desks; dollars still come from memory labs.

Logic MSO illustrates the convergence: Saleae combines an oscilloscope with a logic analyzer at 1.0 to 1.6 GS/s analog sampling and up to 1.2 GS/s digital sampling. Products like it blur the line between the USB tier and the scope-option tier.

## Which channel count band suits a logic analyzer for FPGA verification?

For FPGA verification, the 17 to 64 channels band fits most designs, priced from about USD 100 to USD 296 per channel on scope options. Wide parallel buses and DDR interfaces push teams to above 64 channels, where Keysight's 102- and 136-channel logic analyzers sit.

Up to 16 channels covers most microcontroller and sensor work, and the Saleae Logic Pro 16 at USD 1,499 is the reference price point. Tektronix's FlexChannel approach reaches 64 digital channels on one scope, while Digilent's Digital Discovery offers 32 channels at 200 MS/s, or 8 channels at 800 MS/s.

Douglas Insights models the above 64 channels band at roughly 6.8% of logic analyzer units but about 31.4% of value, matching the benchtop and modular tier.

## What if LPDDR6 adoption or scope absorption reshapes the logic analyzer forecast to 2035?

The base case reaches USD 887.5 million by 2035 on 4.48% volume and 1.71% price growth. A slower case gives USD 724.7 million and a faster case USD 1.09 billion, a spread of USD 361.4 million that turns mostly on how quickly memory buses outpace scope options.

Slower case: unit growth of 2.9% and price growth of 1.2% yield 4.13% a year and USD 724.7 million, USD 162.8 million below base. Scope absorption deepens, and Ralliant-style budget cuts like the 2025 Test and Measurement decline persist. Faster case: 6.1% units and 2.2% price give 8.43% a year and USD 1.09 billion, as LPDDR6 work under JESD209-6, released 9 July 2025, pulls high-channel logic analyzer orders forward ([JEDEC](https://www.jedec.org/node/9557)).

A one-point swing in annual unit growth shifts the 2035 logic analyzer value by about USD 88.7 million. Published third-party forecasts sit between 6.58% and 11.8% a year. Our 6.27% lies just under that band, because we exclude protocol exercisers and count scope options at their digital add-on value only.

## Which RoHS and IEC 61010-1 rules must a logic analyzer comply with?

Every logic analyzer sold in the European Union must meet Directive 2011/65/EU on hazardous substances, adopted on 8 June 2011. The directive caps lead at 0.1% and cadmium at 0.01% by weight in homogeneous materials, and electrical safety follows IEC 61010-1 for measurement equipment.

Monitoring and control instruments came under the RoHS restriction from 22 July 2014 and industrial monitoring and control instruments from 22 July 2017 ([Directive 2011/65/EU on EUR-Lex](https://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/TXT/HTML/?uri=CELEX:32011L0065)). Six substances are restricted, so logic analyzer makers redesigned solder and cable assemblies. The third edition of IEC 61010-1, published on 10 June 2010, sets the safety rules for electrical test and measurement equipment.

Compliance costs weigh more on small USB pod makers than on Keysight or Tektronix. Douglas Insights puts certification and documentation at roughly 2.4% of the realised price for a sub-USD 500 logic analyzer.

## Douglas Exclusive: the Logic Analyzer Channel-Price Atlas

The Channel-Price Atlas is a Douglas Insights model built from 10 inputs: 6 published price points for logic analyzers and digital options, plus 4 manufacturer specification sheets for channel counts. It maps what a buyer pays per digital channel at each tier, and it is our own calculation, not an official register.

| Logic analyzer or option | Price (USD) | Digital channels | USD per channel |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Digilent Digital Discovery | 229 | 32 | 7.16 |
| Saleae Logic 8 | 499 | 8 | 62.38 |
| Saleae Logic Pro 8 | 999 | 8 | 124.88 |
| Saleae Logic Pro 16 | 1,499 | 16 | 93.69 |
| RIGOL MSO5204 (16 digital inputs, probe extra) | 1,599 | 16 | 99.94 |
| Rohde and Schwarz MXO5-B1 mixed-signal option | 4,730 | 16 | 295.62 |

The atlas finds a 41.3-fold spread, from USD 7.16 per channel on the Digilent pod to USD 295.62 on the MXO5-B1 option. The median USB pod sits at USD 93.69 per channel. Scope options cost more per channel but share a display and trigger engine already paid for.

The finding for buyers is plain: below 16 channels the logic analyzer pod wins on cost, while above 64 channels only benchtop systems with deep memory qualify, whatever the price per channel.

## How does the logic analyzer model reconcile units, price and receipts?

The logic analyzer model multiplies 618,400 units by USD 781.5 to reach USD 483.3 million for 2025, then applies 4.48% unit and 1.71% price growth for USD 887.5 million in 2035. Five regions reconcile exactly in both years, and four segments match the global total within USD 0.1 million for 2025 and 0.2% for 2035.

Inputs: 20 countries counted across five regions, 31 data points, 6 list prices, 4 specification sheets and 4 published growth rates. Cross-check one: our USD 483.3 million sits 14.5% below the 2025 midpoint of two published estimates. Cross-check two: Keysight and Tektronix estimated logic analyzer revenue equals 2.2% and 9.5% of their reported revenue bases, both within plausible instrument mix. Regional totals sum to USD 483.3 million and USD 887.5 million.
