The US Food and Drug Administration approved Merck's Lipfendra (enlicitide), the first once-daily oral proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9) inhibitor, on 16 July 2026, [Merck's announcement](https://www.merck.com/news/mercks-lipfendra-enlicitide-is-the-first-and-only-once-daily-oral-pcsk9-inhibitor-approved-by-the-u-s-fda-to-reduce-ldl-c-in-adults-with-hypercholesterolemia/) states, and Merck set a list price of USD 315 a month, roughly half that of injectable PCSK9 products, [Fierce Pharma reported](https://www.fiercepharma.com/pharma/merck-scores-fda-nod-lipfendra-becomes-first-oral-pcsk9-treatment) the same day. Four months earlier, on 13 March 2026, the American College of Cardiology and the American Heart Association brought back numeric low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) goals of below 55, 70 and 100 mg/dL, [Patient Care reported](https://www.patientcareonline.com/view/new-acc-aha-dyslipidemia-guidelines-emphasize-earlier-intervention-return-ldl-c-targets). The U.S. hypercholesterolemia drugs market covers prescription medicines that lower LDL-C in adults and children in the United States: statins, ezetimibe and fixed-dose combinations, PCSK9 antibodies, small interfering RNA (siRNA) therapy, bempedoic acid, the new oral PCSK9 tablets and other lipid agents, valued at net manufacturer prices. Douglas Insights sizes it at USD 8.92 billion in 2025, from 47.0 million treated patient-years x USD 189.8 per patient-year, and at USD 13.4 billion in 2035, a revenue CAGR (compound annual growth rate) of 4.17%. The study is the U.S. share of the North America row in our worldwide [Hypercholesterolemia Drugs Market](https://www.douglasinsights.com/hypercholesterolemia-drugs-market/) model, sits beside our [U.S. Pharmaceutical Drug Market](https://www.douglasinsights.com/u-s-pharmaceutical-drug-market/) report in our [pharmaceuticals coverage](https://www.douglasinsights.com/industry/healthcare/pharmaceuticals/), and every figure follows the Douglas Insights [research methodology](https://www.douglasinsights.com/research-methodology/).

## Which drug class earns the most LDL-lowering revenue: statins, PCSK9 antibodies or inclisiran?

Statins earn the most, 51.6% of 2025 value or USD 4.60 billion, on the largest patient base. PCSK9 antibodies follow with 21.6%, USD 1.93 billion, while bempedoic acid and oral PCSK9 tablets grow fastest at 12.5% a year.

| Drug class | Share 2025 | Value 2025 | CAGR 2026-2035 | Value 2035 |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Statins | 51.6% | USD 4.60 billion | 1.20% | USD 5.18 billion |
| PCSK9 monoclonal antibodies | 21.6% | USD 1.93 billion | 5.00% | USD 3.14 billion |
| Ezetimibe and fixed-dose combinations | 13.8% | USD 1.23 billion | 2.60% | USD 1.59 billion |
| Bempedoic acid, oral PCSK9 and other agents | 6.8% | USD 605 million | 12.50% | USD 1.96 billion |
| Small interfering RNA (siRNA) therapy | 6.3% | USD 560 million | 11.50% | USD 1.66 billion |

Statins, USD 4.60 billion, grow only 1.20% a year to USD 5.18 billion. Atorvastatin, rosuvastatin and simvastatin are generic, so each extra patient adds little value, and Douglas Insights estimates about 40.5 million of the 47.0 million treated patient-years include a statin. Ezetimibe and fixed-dose combinations, USD 1.23 billion, grow 2.60% a year as the 2026 guideline makes ezetimibe the usual second step when a statin alone misses the LDL-C goal.

PCSK9 monoclonal antibodies, USD 1.93 billion, are almost entirely two brands: Amgen's Repatha, with U.S. sales of USD 1.66 billion in 2025, and Regeneron's Praluent, with U.S. sales of USD 262 million, per their results of [3 February 2026](https://www.amgen.com/newsroom/press-releases/2026/02/amgen-reports-fourth-quarter-and-full-year-2025-financial-results) and [30 January 2026](https://investor.regeneron.com/news-releases/news-release-details/regeneron-reports-fourth-quarter-and-full-year-2025-financial). The class grows 5.00% a year to USD 3.14 billion, slower than its 2025 surge, because Amgen guides to a mid-single-digit fall in Repatha net price in 2026.

Small interfering RNA therapy, today only Novartis's twice-yearly Leqvio (inclisiran), earns an estimated USD 560 million in the United States and grows 11.5% a year to USD 1.66 billion. The bempedoic acid, oral PCSK9 and other agents class, USD 605 million, includes Esperion's Nexletol and Nexlizet, fibrates, bile acid sequestrants and therapies for homozygous familial disease; it grows fastest, 12.5% a year to USD 1.96 billion, as Lipfendra adds a tablet with injectable-class LDL-C cuts. Class values for 2035 sum to USD 13.5 billion, 0.86% above the headline, a Douglas Insights estimate.

## How do retail, mail-order, clinic and cash channels split LDL-lowering drug sales?

Retail pharmacies carry the most value, about 54.5% of 2025 sales or USD 4.86 billion, Douglas Insights estimates. Direct-to-patient cash programmes are the smallest channel, USD 223 million, but grow fastest at 13.0% a year.

| Channel | Share 2025 | Value 2025 | CAGR 2026-2035 | Value 2035 |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Retail pharmacies | 54.5% | USD 4.86 billion | 3.00% | USD 6.53 billion |
| Specialty and mail-order pharmacies | 30.0% | USD 2.68 billion | 4.60% | USD 4.20 billion |
| Clinic-administered (buy-and-bill) | 13.0% | USD 1.16 billion | 5.30% | USD 1.94 billion |
| Direct-to-patient cash programmes | 2.5% | USD 223 million | 13.00% | USD 757 million |

Retail pharmacies, USD 4.86 billion, fill most statin, ezetimibe and bempedoic acid scripts, and grow 3.00% a year as Lipfendra joins them. Specialty and mail-order pharmacies, USD 2.68 billion, dispense most Repatha and Praluent pens and the 90-day statin refills that pharmacy benefit managers push to mail. Clinic-administered sales, USD 1.16 billion, are led by Leqvio, which a clinician injects at day 0, month 3 and then every 6 months, so the doctor's office buys and bills the dose. Direct-to-patient cash programmes began in earnest on 6 October 2025, when Amgen put Repatha on its AmgenNow platform at USD 239 a month, open to Medicare and Medicaid participants with no step therapy or prior authorisation, its [release](https://www.amgen.com/newsroom/press-releases/2025/10/c-o-r-r-e-c-t-i-o-n----amgen) states; channel values for 2035 sum to USD 13.4 billion, within 0.1% of the headline.

## Why do new LDL-C goals and outcome trials lift treated patient-years 1.75% a year?

Treated patient-years rise 1.75% a year, from 47.0 million in 2025 to about 55.9 million in 2035. Four drivers add 2.45 points of gross volume growth: the 2026 guideline, the treatment gap, outcome trials and cheaper access.

### Numeric LDL-C goals in the 2026 guideline: 0.95 points

The 2026 guideline adds 0.95 points. Released on 13 March 2026 by the ACC, the AHA and 9 other societies, it sets LDL-C goals of below 100 mg/dL for borderline or intermediate risk, below 70 mg/dL for high risk and below 55 mg/dL for very high-risk secondary prevention, replaces the Pooled Cohort Equations with the PREVENT calculator and recommends universal cholesterol screening for children aged 9 to 11, [Patient Care reported](https://www.patientcareonline.com/view/new-acc-aha-dyslipidemia-guidelines-emphasize-earlier-intervention-return-ldl-c-targets). A goal of 55 mg/dL is hard to reach on a statin alone, so each very high-risk patient becomes a candidate for a second drug; ezetimibe, bempedoic acid and PCSK9 antibodies are all named.

### Closing the treatment gap: 0.70 points

Untreated eligible adults add 0.70 points. Only 54.5% of U.S. adults who could benefit from cholesterol medicine, 47 million people, take it, the [Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)](https://www.cdc.gov/cholesterol/data-research/facts-stats/index.html) reports from its 2017 to 2020 survey, and about 86 million adults aged 20 or older have total cholesterol above 200 mg/dL. Ageing widens the pool: the Census Bureau counted 64.6 million Americans aged 65 or older on 1 July 2025, up 16.2% since 2020, in its [release of 25 June 2026](https://www.census.gov/newsroom/press-releases/2026/vintage-2025-pop-estimates.html).

### Outcome trials for add-on therapy: 0.45 points

Outcome evidence adds 0.45 points. Amgen's VESALIUS-CV trial of more than 12,000 patients with atherosclerosis or diabetes but no prior heart attack or stroke showed a 25% relative cut in the 3-point composite and a 36% cut in heart attack risk with Repatha, its [results of 3 February 2026](https://www.amgen.com/newsroom/press-releases/2026/02/amgen-reports-fourth-quarter-and-full-year-2025-financial-results) state; Repatha volume rose 31% in the fourth quarter of 2025. Primary prevention patients were not covered by earlier PCSK9 outcome trials, so the trial opens a new group to add-on treatment.

### Oral PCSK9 tablets and cash access: 0.35 points

Cheaper access adds the last 0.35 points. Lipfendra cut LDL-C by a placebo-adjusted 56% in CORALreef Lipids and 59% in CORALreef HeFH at week 24, [Merck reports](https://www.merck.com/news/mercks-lipfendra-enlicitide-is-the-first-and-only-once-daily-oral-pcsk9-inhibitor-approved-by-the-u-s-fda-to-reduce-ldl-c-in-adults-with-hypercholesterolemia/), and a tablet can be started in primary care without injection training. Summed, 0.95 + 0.70 + 0.45 + 0.35 = 2.45 points of gross volume growth before restraints, a Douglas Insights estimate. Multiplying the volume leg, 1.0175, by the price leg, 1.0238, gives the 4.17% revenue rate.

## What holds back hypercholesterolemia drug growth: lapsed adherence or prior authorisation?

Two restraints remove 0.70 points from gross volume growth, leaving 1.75% a year: patients who stop lifelong therapy take 0.40 points, and prior authorisation for branded add-ons takes 0.30 points.

Adherence is the larger drag. LDL-C has no symptoms, so many patients who start a statin stop within a year, and a treated patient-year never renews by itself. Douglas Insights removes 0.40 points for discontinuation across the 40.5 million statin patient-years. Twice-yearly Leqvio, given in a clinic, answers part of the problem because each dose is recorded; Novartis reported Leqvio sales of USD 506 million in the third quarter of 2026, up 64%, in its [quarterly report filed with the SEC](https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/0001114448/000111444826000014/a261027-99_2.htm).

Prior authorisation removes 0.30 points. Commercial plans and Medicare Part D sponsors usually ask for a documented statin trial before they cover a PCSK9 antibody, and that paperwork kept Repatha and Praluent to a small share of eligible patients for a decade. Amgen's choice to sell Repatha for cash at USD 239 a month, outside insurance, shows how heavy those edits are: a cash channel is worth building only when coverage rules block patients. The restraint stays small because the 2026 guideline gives plans fewer grounds to refuse a second drug.

## Which U.S. census region leads hypercholesterolemia drug sales: South, West, Midwest or Northeast?

The South leads with USD 3.43 billion or 38.5% of 2025 value, Douglas Insights estimates, and also grows fastest, 4.55% a year to USD 5.36 billion by 2035, on population growth and older patients.

| Census region | Value 2025 | Share 2025 | Value 2026 | CAGR 2026-2035 | Value 2035 |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| South | USD 3.43 billion | 38.5% | USD 3.59 billion | 4.55% | USD 5.36 billion |
| West | USD 2.01 billion | 22.5% | USD 2.09 billion | 4.30% | USD 3.06 billion |
| Midwest | USD 1.87 billion | 21.0% | USD 1.94 billion | 3.80% | USD 2.72 billion |
| Northeast | USD 1.61 billion | 18.0% | USD 1.67 billion | 3.70% | USD 2.31 billion |

The South holds about 39% of residents, and the Census Bureau reports that it grew 6.0% from 2020 to 2025, nearly double the national 3.1%, with its 65-and-older population up 17.5%, the most of any region, per the [Vintage 2025 estimates](https://www.census.gov/newsroom/press-releases/2026/vintage-2025-pop-estimates.html). Douglas Insights grows the South at 4.55% a year and expects it to supply 42.5% of national value added to 2035. The West, USD 2.01 billion, grows 4.30% on large integrated health systems that adopt PCSK9 therapy through cardiology pathways.

The Midwest, USD 1.87 billion, grows 3.80%, and the Northeast, USD 1.61 billion, grows 3.70%, the slowest rate, because its 65-and-older population grew 14.6%, the least of the four regions, and its under-18 population fell 4.1%. Region values for 2035 sum to USD 13.4 billion, 0.18% above the headline; in the data table the row labelled Global holds the national total.

## Who leads hypercholesterolemia drugs: Amgen, Novartis, Regeneron or Merck?

Amgen leads with about 18.6% of 2025 value, USD 1.66 billion of U.S. Repatha sales. With Novartis and Regeneron, the top three hold about 27.9%, Douglas Insights estimates; generic statin makers share most of the rest.

| Company | Brand and position | U.S. sales 2025 | Estimated share 2025 |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Amgen | Repatha (evolocumab), PCSK9 antibody | USD 1.66 billion (filed) | 18.6% |
| Novartis | Leqvio (inclisiran), twice-yearly siRNA | About USD 560 million (estimate) | 6.3% |
| Regeneron | Praluent (alirocumab), PCSK9 antibody | USD 262 million (filed) | 2.9% |
| Esperion | Nexletol and Nexlizet (bempedoic acid) | USD 159.6 million (filed) | 1.8% |
| Merck | Lipfendra (enlicitide), oral PCSK9 from July 2026 | Not on sale in 2025 | 0.0% |
| Viatris and generic makers | Lipitor and generic statins, ezetimibe and fibrates | Not disclosed by brand | 70.4% |

Amgen's Repatha sold USD 3.02 billion worldwide in 2025, up 36%, of which USD 1.66 billion came from the United States, per its [results release](https://www.amgen.com/newsroom/press-releases/2026/02/amgen-reports-fourth-quarter-and-full-year-2025-financial-results). Novartis reported Leqvio sales of USD 1.20 billion worldwide in 2025, up 59%, and USD 1.44 billion in the first nine months of 2026, in its [full-year report](https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1114448/000111444826000007/a260204-99_2.htm) and third-quarter filing; it does not split Leqvio by country, so the U.S. figure is a Douglas Insights estimate. Regeneron's U.S. Praluent sales rose 8% to USD 262 million.

Esperion's U.S. net product revenue for Nexletol and Nexlizet rose 38% to USD 159.6 million in 2025, and the number of prescribers rose 24% to 44,991, its [results of 10 March 2026](https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1434868/000162828026016230/a991q42025earningsrelease.htm) show. Merck enters as the fifth branded seller with Lipfendra, priced at USD 315 a month list. The pattern is plain: the four filed brands grew between 8% and 59% in 2025, while generic statins, 51.6% of value, barely move, so share will keep shifting toward branded add-ons.

## What does a year of LDL-lowering therapy cost, from a generic statin to Lipfendra?

A treated patient-year earned USD 189.8 on average in 2025, Douglas Insights estimates. The range is wide: about USD 114 for a statin year, USD 2,868 for cash Repatha and USD 3,780 for Lipfendra at list.

| Price point | Per month | Per year | Basis |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Blended net revenue per treated patient-year | USD 15.8 | USD 189.8 | USD 8.92 billion over 47.0 million patient-years |
| Statin, net manufacturer value | USD 9.5 | About USD 114 | USD 4.60 billion over 40.5 million patient-years |
| Repatha via AmgenNow, cash | USD 239 | USD 2,868 | Amgen, 6 October 2025 |
| Lipfendra, list | USD 315 | USD 3,780 | Merck via Fierce Pharma, 16 July 2026 |
| Repatha, implied list | About USD 598 | About USD 7,170 | Cash price "nearly 60%" below list |
| Medicare Part D out-of-pocket cap, 2026 | - | USD 2,100 | CMS, effective 1 January 2026 |

Price per patient-year rises 2.38% a year, from USD 189.8 to about USD 240 in 2035, and that rise is mix, not list inflation: each patient who moves from a USD 114 statin year to a branded add-on raises the average, even as individual brands discount. Amgen guided to a mid-single-digit decline in Repatha net price for 2026, and the AmgenNow cash price of USD 239 a month is, by Amgen's own statement, nearly 60% below list, which implies a list near USD 598 a month, a Douglas Insights calculation.

Lipfendra's USD 315 list, about USD 3,780 a year, sits between those two points and below other PCSK9 products, which matters because the tablet competes for the same add-on patients. For Medicare patients the 2026 Part D cap of USD 2,100 a year limits what any patient pays out of pocket, the [Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy summarised](https://www.amcp.org/node/41146) from the CMS announcement of 7 April 2025, so a branded add-on no longer exposes a senior to open-ended coinsurance.

## Which rules shape access to cholesterol medicines: Medicare negotiation, the Part D cap or the 2026 guideline?

Three rule sets shape access: no LDL-lowering drug is on Medicare's negotiation lists through 2028, the Part D out-of-pocket cap reached USD 2,100 in 2026, and FDA labels widened in July 2025 and July 2026.

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) named 15 drugs for negotiated prices starting in 2028, plus Tradjenta for renegotiation, on 27 January 2026, and none is a lipid drug, the [list published by AMCP](https://www.amcp.org/sites/default/files/2026-01/Initial%20Price%20Applicability%20Year%202028_Drugs%20Selected%20for%20Negotiation%20and%20Renegotiation.pdf) shows; the 2026 and 2027 lists also skipped the class. Repatha, approved in 2015, could reach selection age within the forecast, so Douglas Insights treats negotiation as a risk in the slower case, not the base case.

Labels widened twice. On 31 July 2025 the FDA approved Leqvio for first-line use alongside diet and exercise, without a statin, [Novartis states](https://www.novartis.com/us-en/news/media-releases/novartis-twice-yearly-leqvio-inclisiran-receives-fda-approval-new-indication-enabling-first-line-use), and on 16 July 2026 Lipfendra was approved for adults with hypercholesterolemia, including heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (HeFH), after a fast review under the Commissioner's National Priority Voucher pilot, which can cut review times to 1 to 2 months, per [Fierce Pharma](https://www.fiercepharma.com/pharma/merck-scores-fda-nod-lipfendra-becomes-first-oral-pcsk9-treatment). Merck also plans to offer Lipfendra through the TrumpRx direct-to-patient website, the same route Amgen named for Repatha.

## What if oral PCSK9 tablets reach primary care: how large is the market in 2035?

The market ends 2035 between USD 11.1 billion and USD 15.8 billion across our three cases, around a base of USD 13.4 billion. Primary care uptake of oral PCSK9 tablets sets most of the spread.

| Case | Patient-year leg | Price per patient-year leg | 2035 value |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Slower | 0.90% | 1.30% | USD 11.1 billion |
| Base case | 1.75% | 2.38% | USD 13.4 billion |
| Faster | 2.50% | 3.30% | USD 15.8 billion |

In the slower case Lipfendra stays with cardiologists, plans keep step edits, and a PCSK9 antibody enters Medicare negotiation before 2035. In the faster case primary care prescribes oral PCSK9 tablets as the second step, PREVENT-based screening finds more eligible adults, and inclisiran's secondary-prevention outcome data broaden its label. One extra point of yearly growth in the patient-year leg adds about USD 1.38 billion to 2035 value.

The base case starts at USD 9.29 billion in 2026, 4.17% above 2025. Repatha's 31% fourth-quarter volume growth and Leqvio's 64% third-quarter growth run far above that rate, but both start from small bases inside a market where 51.6% of value is generic statins.

## Douglas Exclusive: the LDL Add-On Spend Ledger

The LDL Add-On Spend Ledger is a Douglas Insights model built from 12 dated sources: 8 company releases and filings, 1 Medicare negotiation list, 1 clinical guideline, 1 Census release and 1 trade press price report.

| Date | Input | What it moves |
| --- | --- | --- |
| 31 July 2025 | Leqvio approved for first-line use without a statin | siRNA patient pool |
| 6 October 2025 | Repatha on AmgenNow at USD 239 a month | Cash channel and price |
| 27 January 2026 | 2028 Medicare negotiation list names no lipid drug | Price risk |
| 30 January 2026 | Regeneron: U.S. Praluent USD 262 million, up 8% | PCSK9 class value |
| 3 February 2026 | Amgen: U.S. Repatha USD 1.66 billion; 2026 net price down mid-single digits | PCSK9 class value and price |
| 4 February 2026 | Novartis: Leqvio USD 1.20 billion worldwide, up 59% | siRNA value |
| 10 March 2026 | Esperion: Nexletol and Nexlizet USD 159.6 million, up 38% | Oral add-on value |
| 13 March 2026 | ACC/AHA goals of below 55, 70 and 100 mg/dL | Add-on eligibility |
| 25 June 2026 | Census: 64.6 million aged 65 or older | Patient-year leg |
| 16 July 2026 | FDA approves Lipfendra | Oral PCSK9 entry |
| 16 July 2026 | Lipfendra list price USD 315 a month | Oral PCSK9 price |
| October 2026 | Novartis: Leqvio USD 506 million in the third quarter, up 64% | siRNA momentum |

The finding, a Douglas Insights estimate: the three add-on classes, PCSK9 antibodies, siRNA therapy and bempedoic acid with oral PCSK9 tablets, hold 34.6% of 2025 value, USD 3.09 billion, but supply 79.6% of the value added to 2035. Statins, at 51.6% of today's market, supply only 12.6% of growth, and ezetimibe combinations 7.8%. Growth in this market is therefore a question of how many patients take a second, branded drug, not how many take a first.

The ledger also shows price points converging downward. A year of Repatha at implied list is about USD 7,170, a year of cash Repatha through AmgenNow USD 2,868 since 6 October 2025, and a year of Lipfendra at list USD 3,780 since 16 July 2026, so the cheapest route to a PCSK9 add-on now costs 60% less than the list route did, a Douglas Insights calculation. Every 1 million patient-years moved to a Lipfendra year at list would add up to USD 3.78 billion of gross value before rebates, which is why a single primary-care decision can shift the 2035 outcome more than any change in statin volume.

## How does the methodology turn 47.0 million patient-years into USD 8.92 billion?

Our methodology multiplies 47.0 million treated patient-years in 2025 by USD 189.8 of net revenue per patient-year to reach USD 8.92 billion. The patient-year count is anchored on the CDC estimate of 47 million treated adults.

The model covers 4 census regions, 5 drug classes and 4 channels, and uses 60 data points, 18 sourced and 42 modelled. Arithmetic: 47.0 million x USD 189.79 = USD 8.92 billion; USD 8.92 billion x (1.0175 x 1.0238)^10 = USD 13.4 billion. Patient-years reach about 47.8 million in 2026 and 55.9 million in 2035, and price per patient-year about USD 194 in 2026 and USD 240 in 2035.

Two cross-checks agree. First, the U.S. value is 93.0% of the North America row of our worldwide model, USD 9.59 billion in 2025, USD 9.99 billion in 2026 and USD 14.4 billion in 2035; Canada holds the other 7.0% with about 11% of the region's people and lower branded prices. Second, filed U.S. sales of Repatha, Praluent and Nexletol with Nexlizet total USD 2.08 billion, 23.4% of the market, leaving USD 6.84 billion for Leqvio, statins, ezetimibe and other agents, consistent with about USD 114 per statin patient-year. AI tools help draft the text and automated checks test the arithmetic and links; the Douglas Insights research desk chooses the sources, builds the model and approves publication, as our [editorial standards](https://www.douglasinsights.com/research-methodology/) explain.

## What counts in the hypercholesterolemia drug study, and what is excluded?

This study counts net manufacturer revenue from prescription LDL-lowering medicines dispensed or administered in the United States. Triglyceride-only drugs, supplements, lipid tests and apheresis procedures are excluded.

The by-class split covers statins, ezetimibe and fixed-dose combinations, PCSK9 monoclonal antibodies, siRNA therapy, and bempedoic acid, oral PCSK9 and other agents; the by-channel split covers retail pharmacies, specialty and mail-order pharmacies, clinic-administered buy-and-bill and direct-to-patient cash programmes; the by-region split covers the South, West, Midwest and Northeast. Icosapent ethyl and other triglyceride-only products, over-the-counter red yeast rice and fish oil, lipoprotein(a) drugs still in trials, and laboratory testing, sized in our [Cholesterol Tests Market](https://www.douglasinsights.com/cholesterol-tests-market/) report, are excluded. The antibody platform behind Repatha and Praluent is covered in the [Therapeutic Monoclonal Antibodies Market](https://www.douglasinsights.com/therapeutic-monoclonal-antibodies-market/) study.
