Stereotaxis closed its purchase of Robocath on 9 July 2026, putting a magnetic catheter-steering pioneer and a CE-marked coronary robot, the R-One, under one owner. Robotic angiography systems are X-ray angiography and endovascular platforms in which a robot either positions the imaging gantry or advances the catheter and guidewire; the market covers multi-axis C-arms, mobile gantries, electromechanical catheter robots and magnetic navigation. Douglas Insights sizes the robotic angiography system market at USD 922.1 million in 2025, from 504 systems shipped at an average USD 1,829,560 each. Revenue reaches USD 1.84 billion by 2035, a revenue CAGR of 7.18% on 5.8% unit growth and a 1.3% price leg. The study belongs to our cardiovascular devices coverage and follows the published research methodology.

Where does a robotic angiography system end: at the C-arm robot or the catheter robot?

Robotic angiography systems include both ends: 410 of the 504 units shipped in 2025 were robot-positioned imaging gantries, and 94 were catheter-driving robots that sit beside a conventional C-arm on the procedure table.

The boundary is capital equipment. A robotic C-arm earns its place when a motorised arm or mobile base moves the X-ray source and detector along programmed paths, as in hybrid operating rooms. A catheter robot qualifies when the physician steers wire and catheter from a shielded console. Contrast media, sheaths, single-procedure cassettes and service contracts sit outside the count, as do fixed ceiling-mounted C-arms with no robotic positioning; those sit in our Diagnostic Imaging Market study, and wider robot adoption is tracked in the Healthcare Robotics Market report.

Excluding consumables matters. Stereotaxis booked USD 22.2 million of recurring revenue in 2025 against USD 10.2 million of system revenue, so a disposables-inclusive view of magnetic navigation would be about 3.2 times larger.

Who builds robotic C-arms and catheter robots, and how concentrated is the field?

Douglas Insights estimates Siemens Healthineers, GE HealthCare and Philips hold 79.6% of robotic angiography system revenue in 2025, because only four firms build hybrid-room gantries at scale. Imaging gantries carry 93.9% of value, so catheter-robot specialists compete for a far smaller pool.

Company Position built on Share 2025 (Douglas Insights estimate) Value 2025
Siemens Healthineers ARTIS pheno floor robot for hybrid rooms 44.7% USD 412.2 million
GE HealthCare Allia interventional platform, mobile gantries 21.3% USD 196.4 million
Philips Azurion interventional suites 13.6% USD 125.4 million
Canon Medical Systems Alphenix angiography with self-propelled CT 10.2% USD 94.1 million
Stereotaxis (with Robocath) Genesis RMN magnetic navigation, R-One 2.3% USD 21.2 million
Microbot Medical LIBERTY single-use endovascular robot under 0.5% not disclosed

Siemens Healthineers leads at 44.7%, about USD 412.2 million, on the floor-mounted ARTIS pheno, which the company describes as a robotic system that can be moved into and out of the surgical area. GE HealthCare follows with 21.3%, built on Allia interventional suites, including Allia Moveo, cleared by the FDA on 9 December 2025. Philips holds 13.6% through Azurion, a platform cleared by the FDA again for release R3.1. Canon Medical Systems takes 10.2% with Alphenix, which it pairs with a self-propelled CT base for angio-CT rooms. Shares rest on our estimates of hybrid-room installations per vendor, because none of the four reports robotic gantry revenue on its own.

How the Robocath deal reshapes catheter robotics

Stereotaxis is the only listed pure play. Its 2025 revenue was USD 32.4 million, up 20%, and system backlog entered 2026 at USD 9.1 million, according to its full-year release. Adding Robocath gives it a coronary robot with CE and NMPA certification already used in Europe and China, so Douglas Insights counts Stereotaxis at 2.3% of the robotic angiography system market after the deal. Microbot Medical is the newest entrant. Its LIBERTY robot is single-use, so it sells per procedure rather than as capital, and the company reported revenue up more than 100% on the prior quarter in the second quarter of 2026. The remaining 7.9% sits with smaller imaging and catheter-robot makers, mostly in China and Japan.

Which robotic angiography system type leads: multi-axis C-arm, mobile gantry or catheter robot?

Multi-axis robotic C-arm systems lead with 67.1% of 2025 value, USD 619.1 million, because every new hybrid operating room needs a gantry that clears the sterile field. Hybrid rooms also pay the highest price per robotic angiography system, about USD 2.31 million.

Segment Share 2025 Value 2025 CAGR 2026-2035 Value 2035
Multi-axis robotic C-arm systems 67.1% USD 619.1 million 6.81% USD 1.20 billion
Mobile-gantry angiography systems 26.8% USD 247.1 million 7.23% USD 496.6 million
Electromechanical catheter robots 5.0% USD 45.8 million 11.62% USD 137.4 million
Magnetic navigation systems 1.1% USD 10.2 million 6.14% USD 18.5 million

Multi-axis robotic C-arm systems hold USD 619.1 million from 268 units at about USD 2.31 million each; their share of value is high because a multi-axis floor robot replaces both ceiling rails and a separate surgical C-arm. Mobile-gantry angiography systems take USD 247.1 million, a 26.8% share, since a motorised base that drives away from the table suits rooms that cannot carry ceiling loads. Electromechanical catheter robots account for USD 45.8 million, 5.0% of value, as 88 units at about USD 0.52 million each sell mainly to coronary and neurovascular programmes. Magnetic navigation systems close at USD 10.2 million, 1.1%, which matches the USD 10.2 million of system revenue Stereotaxis reported for 2025.

Electromechanical catheter robots grow fastest, at 11.62% a year to USD 137.4 million by 2035, because radiation protection for operators and remote, single-use designs lower the capital barrier that kept the first generation small.

Which procedures fill a robotic angiography suite: coronary, neuro or peripheral work?

Douglas Insights counts coronary interventions at about 41% of robotic angiography system use in 2025, because cardiology runs the most catheterisation laboratories, while neurovascular interventions take 19% and peripheral vascular interventions 17% of suite hours.

Electrophysiology takes about 12%, almost all on magnetic navigation, and interventional oncology, mainly liver embolisation, about 11%. By end user, hybrid operating rooms absorb 61% of robotic angiography system value, catheterisation laboratories 34% and ambulatory surgery centres 5%. Ambulatory sites are small today. Their share rises once single-use robots remove the need for capital approval.

Why are hybrid operating rooms and stroke centres buying robotic angiography systems?

Three drivers supply the 5.8% annual unit growth of robotic angiography systems: hybrid-room construction adds 2.3 points, stroke-thrombectomy capacity 1.6 points and catheter-robot adoption 1.2 points, with fleet replacement adding the last 0.7.

Hybrid-room construction is the largest driver at 2.3 points. Transcatheter valve, complex aortic and combined open-endovascular cases need CT-grade 3D imaging on a sterile table, and a floor or mobile robot keeps the ceiling free for surgical lights and anaesthesia booms. Douglas Insights expects hybrid-room robotic angiography systems to rise from 410 imaging units in 2025 to about 721 in 2035 at the same 5.8% pace.

Stroke capacity adds 1.6 points. Mechanical thrombectomy needs biplane or 3D-capable angiography within hours of symptom onset, and health systems are adding thrombectomy-capable centres outside large cities. Each new centre buys one suite, typically at USD 1.6 million to USD 2.4 million, and many specify robotic positioning so the same room can serve neuro and vascular surgery. Douglas Insights calculates that neurovascular rooms take about 19% of robotic angiography system hours in 2025, and that share rises as thrombectomy windows widen to 24 hours for selected patients.

Catheter robots add 1.2 points. The FDA cleared Microbot Medical’s LIBERTY Endovascular Robotic System under 510(k) K243789 on 4 September 2025, the first new endovascular robot in our clearance count since the CorPath GRX decision of 27 July 2022. Microbot Medical then doubled its sales footprint from four to eight territories by mid-2026, and new health systems in Massachusetts, North Carolina, Michigan and Pennsylvania adopted LIBERTY. Stereotaxis completed the Robocath purchase on 9 July 2026, so one vendor now offers magnetic and electromechanical robots across electrophysiology and coronary work, and its technology has treated more than 150,000 patients. Douglas Insights puts electromechanical catheter robot value at USD 45.8 million in 2025 and USD 137.4 million by 2035.

Replacement supplies the final 0.7 points. Robotic C-arms installed in the first hybrid-room wave after 2010 reach the end of a 10 to 12 year tube and detector life, and replacing a robotic gantry with a fixed C-arm would mean rebuilding the room. The four drivers add to 5.8 points; the 1.3% price leg comes from 3D imaging packages and newer flat detectors entering the mix, which adds about USD 23,800 to the average robotic angiography system in 2026.

Does remote catheter driving cut operator radiation enough to justify a robotic angiography system?

Remote consoles move the interventionalist out of the scatter field, and EU Directive 2013/59/Euratom caps the occupational eye-lens dose at 20 mSv a year. The limit is why radiation protection anchors robotic angiography system sales to catheterisation laboratories and stroke teams.

Heavy lead aprons and long standing hours are a common source of spine and joint strain among interventional cardiologists. A seated, shielded console removes the apron for the primary operator. Stereotaxis cites more than 98% technical procedure success for R-One across multicentre studies, the clinical bar a catheter robot must clear before radiation benefits count. For buyers, the arithmetic is simple: a USD 0.52 million robot that keeps one senior operator working five more years pays back on retained case volume.

Which budget and room-build barriers slow robotic angiography system orders?

Three barriers remove 1.9 points from robotic angiography system unit growth in the slower case, cutting it from 5.8% to 3.9%. Hospital capital budgets take 0.8 points, room construction 0.6 points and missing robot reimbursement 0.5 points.

Capital budgets are the largest drag, worth 0.8 points. Douglas Insights estimates a hybrid room with a robotic C-arm runs to USD 3 million to USD 5 million once shielding, laminar air and integration are included, and boards defer projects of that size when operating margins tighten. Room construction is the second, worth 0.6 points. A floor-mounted robot needs a reinforced slab and a room of about 70 square metres, so many older buildings can only take a mobile gantry or nothing.

Reimbursement is the third, worth 0.5 points. No major payer adds a fee for robot-assisted coronary or peripheral intervention, so a catheter robot must earn its keep through staff safety and throughput rather than billing. No CorPath GRX clearance has followed the 2022 decision in our count, a sign of how thin that case can be, and electromechanical robots stay the segment most exposed to this restraint.

Where will robotic angiography suites be installed fastest, from North America to the Gulf?

North America leads robotic angiography systems with USD 339.3 million in 2025, 36.8% of value, because US hospitals built the most hybrid operating rooms and are the first market for LIBERTY and new GenesisX installations.

Region 2025 2026 2035 CAGR 2026-2035
North America USD 339.3 million USD 361.3 million USD 635.7 million 6.48%
Europe USD 289.5 million USD 307.5 million USD 528.8 million 6.21%
Asia Pacific USD 222.2 million USD 242.4 million USD 529.4 million 9.07%
Latin America USD 38.7 million USD 41.7 million USD 81.6 million 7.74%
Middle East and Africa USD 32.4 million USD 34.9 million USD 68.4 million 7.76%
Global USD 922.1 million USD 988.3 million USD 1.84 billion 7.18%

Asia Pacific is the fastest region at 9.07% a year, rising from USD 222.2 million to USD 529.4 million, because China and India are adding stroke centres and NMPA-certified catheter robots such as R-One already sell there. Douglas Insights projects Asia Pacific to draw level with Europe by 2035, at USD 529.4 million against USD 528.8 million. Europe holds USD 289.5 million in 2025 and grows 6.21%, the slowest pace, as public hospital capital cycles run long. North America grows 6.48% to USD 635.7 million. Latin America is worth USD 38.7 million and grows 7.74%, led by private cardiac hospitals in Brazil and Mexico. The Middle East and Africa are the wildcard: USD 32.4 million in 2025, rising 7.76% a year, where a single Gulf hospital programme can order several robotic hybrid rooms at once.

How much does a hospital pay for a robotic C-arm or a catheter robot in 2025?

Hospitals pay an average USD 1,829,560 per robotic angiography system in 2025, from about USD 0.38 million for an electromechanical catheter robot to USD 2.8 million for a fully configured multi-axis robotic C-arm.

Douglas Insights puts realised price bands at USD 1.9 million to USD 2.8 million for multi-axis robotic C-arm systems, USD 1.45 million to USD 2.05 million for mobile-gantry systems and USD 0.38 million to USD 0.70 million for electromechanical catheter robots. Magnetic navigation averages about USD 1.70 million a unit on our estimate of six 2025 shipments against USD 10.2 million of disclosed system revenue. List prices, on our estimate, run 25% to 40% above realised prices in tenders.

Single-use robots change the price unit. LIBERTY is sold per procedure, so its revenue scales with cases rather than placements, a model closer to the Surgical Robotics Instrument Consumables Market than to capital equipment. The blended average rises to about USD 2.08 million by 2035 on the 1.3% price leg, because 3D imaging packages and software options outgrow discounts.

Which FDA codes and IEC 60601-2-43 standards govern robotic angiography systems?

Robotic angiography systems reach the US market through FDA 510(k) clearance, and 11 of the 12 imaging-suite decisions in our 2023 to 2026 count sit under product code OWB. LIBERTY was cleared under product code DXX in the cardiovascular panel, a separate route for catheter robots.

Electrical and radiation safety follow IEC 60601-1 and IEC 60601-2-43, the particular standard for X-ray equipment used in interventional procedures. In Europe, robotic angiography systems carry CE marking under the Medical Device Regulation (MDR), Regulation (EU) 2017/745, which applies since 26 May 2021. China requires National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) registration, which Robocath already holds. Staff dose rules matter too: Directive 2013/59/Euratom cut the occupational eye-lens limit from 150 mSv to 20 mSv a year, and hospitals cite it in robot tenders.

What if hospital capital tightens: where do robotic angiography systems land in 2035?

The base case puts robotic angiography systems at USD 1.84 billion in 2035, on 5.8% unit growth and a 1.3% price leg, with shipments rising from 504 to about 886 systems a year.

Case Unit growth Price leg 2035 value
Slower 3.9% 0.8% USD 1.46 billion
Base 5.8% 1.3% USD 1.84 billion
Faster 7.6% 1.8% USD 2.29 billion

The slower case assumes capital freezes and no robot reimbursement, ending at USD 1.46 billion, USD 379.9 million below base. The faster case assumes catheter robots repeat in coronary work what the Robocath deal of 9 July 2026 promises in Europe and China, and lifts value to USD 2.29 billion. Unit growth is the lever: one extra point a year takes 2035 to USD 2.03 billion, USD 181.8 million above base. Published forecasts run from about 5% to 12.5% a year; our 7.18% sits in the lower half of that span, because we exclude disposables and service.

Douglas Exclusive: the robotic angiography clearance calendar

The robotic angiography clearance calendar is a Douglas Insights count built from 37 records in the FDA 510(k) database and 3 company disclosures. The calendar logs every clearance we read for robotic gantries, imaging suites, navigation robots and their catheters, month by month, since 2007.

Window Imaging-suite clearances Navigation robot and catheter clearances Total
2023 2 0 2
2024 2 0 2
2025 4 3 7
2026 to 3 October 4 2 6
2007 to 2022 not logged 20 20

Our count shows 13 decisions in the 21 months from January 2025 against 4 in the 24 months of 2023 and 2024, a 3.7 times faster monthly pace. Four imaging clearances landed in 74 days in our count, from 26 September to 9 December 2025, covering Canon, Philips and GE HealthCare releases. On the catheter side our count records a 36-month gap after the last CorPath GRX clearance, broken by a Stereotaxis mapping catheter in July 2025 and then by LIBERTY, GenesisX and Synchrony.

The finding: the robotic angiography system market is entering a refresh cycle. All four gantry makers cleared a new release within 8 months in our count, and Douglas Insights treats the next 12 months as the window when software-led upgrades convert into 2026 and 2027 orders. Four of the six 2026 entries are Stereotaxis or Siemens filings, so the calendar also flags where competition is sharpest.

How the model turns 504 shipments into USD 922.1 million of robotic angiography systems?

The arithmetic reads 504 systems x USD 1,829,560 = USD 922.1 million for 2025, with 268 multi-axis, 142 mobile-gantry, 88 electromechanical and 6 magnetic units.

Coverage spans 5 regions, 34 countries, 4 system types, 5 applications and 3 end-user groups. The model uses 186 data points: 37 FDA decision records, 2 Stereotaxis financial disclosures, unit counts by vendor, price bands and 4 published growth rates. Segment units at segment prices sum to USD 922.1 million, within 0.1 million of the receipt.

Three cross-checks follow. A published 2025 estimate of USD 1.2 billion sits 30.1% above our figure, a gap we attribute to wider scope such as service and disposables. Magnetic navigation at USD 10.2 million equals Stereotaxis system revenue exactly. Segment values for 2035 sum to USD 1.85 billion, within 0.3% of the headline, and 1.058 x 1.013 – 1 gives 7.18%.
