Pet drying cabinets are a USD 510.0 million global business in 2025, on track for USD 1.01 billion by 2035 at 7.03% a year. Pet drying cabinets are enclosed, fan-driven chambers that dry a bathed cat or dog with warm, filtered air while the animal stands free; the market covers home boxes, salon cabinets and cage dryer enclosures. Our arithmetic is short: 1.046 million cabinets shipped at an average realised USD 487.6 each equal USD 510.0 million. Trade attention is rising too, because Interzoo 2026 in Nuremberg closed on 15 May 2026 with about 2,400 exhibitors, 39,000 trade visitors and a new Groomers’ Day that drew around 200 participants (Interzoo closing report). The study belongs to the pet tech research hub, and every step of the build follows the Douglas Insights research methodology.
How much does a pet drying cabinet cost, from a 60-litre home box to a 405-litre salon unit?
A home pet drying cabinet lists at about USD 380 to USD 600, while salon cabinets list from 1,649.99 to 5,999.99 Australian dollars (AUD). The blended realised price across 1.046 million units is USD 487.6, because cheaper home boxes make up most of the volume.
PETKIT lists its 60-litre AirSalon Max at USD 379.99 on its AirSalon Max product page, with an automatic shut-off above 40 degrees Celsius and a noise rating of 42 decibels (dB) or less. Larger home units cost more. A 135-litre Homerunpet box sold for USD 583 in a United States retail deal listing. In Australia, the 60-litre AirSalon sells for AUD 840.65 through a hardware marketplace, for the same 60-litre chamber as the USD 379.99 Max.
Salon prices jump. The Jirpet F1 cabin dryer, rated for pets up to 12.5 kg, lists at AUD 1,649.99 from its distributor, and the twin-chamber Jirpet C-PLUS, a 405-litre cabinet with four brushless motors and 4,000 cubic metres of air an hour, lists at AUD 5,999.99. Douglas Insights puts realised prices at USD 342 for compact home boxes, USD 548 for large home boxes, USD 1,240 for professional single-bay cabinets and USD 3,650 for multi-bay units. Cage and kennel dryer cabinets realise about USD 230, below the USD 319.99 list price of the steel Air Force Blaster Cagemaster Plus, since kennels buy through dealer discounts. The average drying cabinet price rises only 0.38% a year to USD 506.4 by 2035: salon units gain features, but the mix tilts to home boxes.
Which machines count as pet drying cabinets, and which hand-held blasters fall outside the scope?
Five enclosed formats, worth USD 510.0 million together, form the pet drying cabinet market in 2025. A unit qualifies when the animal sits inside a closed chamber with its own fan and heater; open stand dryers, hand-held blasters and human hair dryers are excluded.
The study counts compact home boxes, large home boxes, professional single-bay cabinets, professional multi-bay cabinets and cage and kennel dryer cabinets. Cage dryers enter the scope only when sold with or for a closed kennel front, as the Edemco F500 double drying cage is. Blasters such as the Cagemaster Plus count only when bundled into a cage system. Spare filters, ionisers sold separately and grooming services are left out. Hardware only. Enclosure required.
Which cabinet format leads pet drying cabinet revenue: compact home boxes or salon bays?
Compact home boxes lead pet drying cabinet revenue with 41.7% of 2025 sales, or USD 212.7 million. Buyers favour them because a 60-litre box fits one cat or two small pets, sells below USD 400 and plugs into an ordinary socket.
| Format | Share 2025 | Value 2025 | Growth 2026-2035 | Value 2035 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Compact home boxes | 41.7% | USD 212.7 million | 8.35% | USD 474.3 million |
| Large home boxes | 18.4% | USD 93.8 million | 9.12% | USD 224.5 million |
| Professional single-bay cabinets | 21.3% | USD 108.6 million | 4.86% | USD 174.6 million |
| Professional multi-bay cabinets | 11.9% | USD 60.7 million | 3.94% | USD 89.3 million |
| Cage and kennel dryer cabinets | 6.7% | USD 34.2 million | 2.71% | USD 44.7 million |
Compact home boxes earn USD 212.7 million on roughly 621,900 units, because cat households buy them as a replacement for towel and hair dryer sessions. Large home boxes take 18.4%, or USD 93.8 million, and they are the fastest-growing format at 9.12% a year: 135-litre chambers now admit medium dogs, the owner group that hand dryers serve worst. Professional single-bay cabinets hold USD 108.6 million, 21.3% of revenue, since a salon recovers a USD 1,240 cabinet by freeing a groomer for the next bath. Professional multi-bay cabinets bring in USD 60.7 million at 11.9%; only busy salons and veterinary hospitals need two chambers. Cage and kennel dryer cabinets keep 6.7%, or USD 34.2 million, and grow slowest at 2.71% because kennel fleets replace steel units only every eight to ten years.
Are cats, small dogs or medium and large dogs the main pet drying cabinet users?
Cats account for 44.6% of pet drying cabinet units in 2025, about 466,500 boxes out of 1.046 million. Cats tolerate an enclosed chamber better than a loud blower, and a cat fits easily inside the 60-litre boxes that dominate online listings and retail shelves in 2025.
Small dogs take 38.1% of units, or 398,500, as toy breeds share the same compact chambers. Medium and large dogs account for 17.3%, roughly 181,000 units, almost all in salon cabinets or 135-litre home boxes. The Jirpet C-PLUS illustrates the ceiling: it takes one dog under 60 kg or two small to medium dogs at once. Dogs gain share. Large home boxes carry that shift through 2035.
Why are cat owners and groomers buying pet drying cabinets faster than hand dryers?
Four forces add 6.62 points a year to pet drying cabinet unit growth through 2035. Home penetration supplies 3.14 points, salon throughput 1.71 points, cat ownership 1.02 points and replacement of first-generation boxes 0.75 points, all measured on cabinets shipped.
Home penetration is the largest lever at 3.14 points. The American Pet Products Association (APPA) reported on 26 March 2025 that 94 million United States households own a pet, with dogs in 68 million homes and cats in 49 million (APPA 2025 State of the Industry release). Douglas Insights estimates that fewer than 0.6% of those homes owned a pet drying cabinet in 2025, so each small gain in penetration lifts shipments sharply. The base is tiny. Penetration of 1.4% by 2035 would roughly double the home installed base, and China adds a second, larger pool of buyers not counted in either association series.
Europe adds depth to the same driver. The European pet food industry federation (FEDIAF) published its 2025 Facts and Figures on 12 June 2025, counting 299 million pets in 139 million European households (FEDIAF 2025 Facts and Figures). Almost half of those homes keep a dog or cat. Noise matters here. Apartment living makes a quiet 42 dB box more attractive than a loud hand-held blower in a shared stairwell.
Salon throughput gives 1.71 points. Labour is the reason. The Edemco F500 double drying cage moves 1,400 cubic feet per minute (CFM) and dries up to eight dogs an hour, so a salon with one bather can run a second dog through the cabinet while the first is clipped. Douglas Insights models salon cabinet units rising 4.4% a year against 3.1% growth in grooming bays, which is the cabinet’s share of the drying step expanding.
Cats and replacement finish the list, and together they supply 1.77 of the 6.62 points. Cats gain 1.02 points because 49 million United States homes already keep a cat, and a cat fits the cheapest compact box, priced below USD 400 at retail. Replacement adds 0.75 points: Douglas Insights assumes a five-year fan and heater life, so home boxes sold early in the decade come due from 2026. Interzoo 2026, where grooming equipment makers such as Shernbao and Minag were listed among about 2,400 exhibitors, shows suppliers betting on that refresh (Interzoo 2026 results).
What limits pet drying cabinet uptake: heat-stroke fears, floor space or the price gap?
Three restraints remove 1.54 points from a gross 8.16-point unit growth rate, leaving pet drying cabinets at 6.62%. Heat-safety worries cost 0.64 points, the price gap against a basic hand dryer 0.52 points and salon floor space 0.38 points of yearly unit growth.
Heat safety tops the list at 0.64 points. Owners worry about overheating inside a closed box, so brands now advertise caps: PETKIT switches off above 40 degrees Celsius, and the Jirpet C-PLUS limits its range to 20 to 40 degrees Celsius. Brachycephalic dogs and elderly cats remain poor candidates whatever the cap; Douglas Insights estimates that excludes about 9% of the addressable pet pool.
The price gap removes 0.52 points. A USD 379.99 home box costs more than a salon-grade steel blaster such as the USD 319.99 Cagemaster Plus, and buyers outside the largest markets pay distributor margins on top. Floor space takes 0.38 points: a 405-litre salon cabinet weighs 140 kg and needs about 0.8 square metres, which a two-table salon in a city centre cannot spare.
Which companies build pet drying cabinets, from PETKIT and Homerunpet to Edemco?
The top three pet drying cabinet brands, PETKIT, Homerunpet and Jirpet, hold 38.4% of 2025 revenue by Douglas Insights estimate. The market stays fragmented because salon cabinets sell through regional distributors while home boxes compete on price and features across online marketplaces.
| Company | Position built on | Estimated share 2025 |
|---|---|---|
| PETKIT | App-linked AirSalon home boxes, 40 degree cap | 17.2% |
| Homerunpet | Large 135-litre home boxes for medium dogs | 12.4% |
| Jirpet | Brushless-motor salon cabins, F1 and C-PLUS | 8.8% |
| Shernbao | Full grooming range and original equipment manufacturing | 5.1% |
| Edemco Dryers | United States drying cages for salons and clinics | 3.9% |
| Metropolitan Vacuum Cleaner Co. | Steel Air Force Blaster cage dryers | 3.3% |
| Vivog | French salon cabins with infrared heating | 2.2% |
| Minag | Brazilian-built compact cabinet dryers | 1.4% |
PETKIT leads with an estimated 17.2% share, built on the AirSalon range, app control and a published 40-degree shut-off. Homerunpet follows at about 12.4% on large home boxes that admit medium dogs. Jirpet holds about 8.8% through salon cabins with brushless Panasonic motors and 40 dB operation. Shernbao, founded in 1999 in Yuyao, China, sells clippers, dryers, tables and cages, and supplies other brands as an original equipment manufacturer. Edemco Dryers anchors the United States salon and clinic niche with cages such as the F500. Metropolitan Vacuum Cleaner Co. supplies the all-steel Cagemaster Plus with a five-year warranty. Vivog sells its Cat and Dog SPA Premium cabin to French and European salons, breeders and veterinary clinics, and Minag builds a compact cabinet dryer in Brazil with local technical support. Trade-fair exposure matters: the 15 May 2026 Interzoo close, with 87% of exhibitors from outside Germany, put Asian and Latin American cabinet makers in front of European distributors (Interzoo closing report).
Where do pet drying cabinets sell most: Asia Pacific, North America or Europe?
Asia Pacific leads pet drying cabinet sales with USD 202.0 million in 2025, 39.6% of the world total. China sits at the centre of that total, since dense apartment living favours an enclosed, quiet dryer over a loud hand-held blower.
Asia Pacific also grows fastest, at 8.14% a year to USD 441.8 million by 2035, because home penetration starts low and domestic brands sell at the lowest prices. North America is worth USD 147.4 million, 28.9%, and rises 6.12% a year to USD 267.0 million on salon cabinets and large home boxes for its 68 million dog households. Europe holds USD 114.2 million, 22.4%, growing 5.87% a year to USD 202.0 million as salon buyers favour infrared cabins and stricter product-safety rules raise compliance cost. Latin America is the wildcard: USD 27.0 million today, rising 7.86% a year to USD 57.5 million as Brazilian makers such as Minag build locally and dodge import duty. The Middle East and Africa total USD 19.4 million, reaching USD 37.3 million at 6.76% a year, with Gulf grooming salons the main buyers.
How do grooming salons, veterinary clinics and households split pet drying cabinet spending?
Households spend USD 306.5 million on pet drying cabinets in 2025, 60.1% of the total, against USD 203.5 million from professional buyers. Home buyers pay less per unit but outnumber salons, clinics and kennels by roughly six to one in cabinets shipped.
Grooming salons are the largest professional buyer at USD 125.5 million, 24.6% of revenue, because the cabinet frees a groomer during the drying step. Veterinary clinics spend USD 32.1 million, 6.3%, mostly on cage dryers for post-surgery bathing. Breeders and kennels account for USD 27.5 million, 5.4%, and pet daycare and hotels USD 18.4 million, 3.6%. Daycare is small. Still useful: a single cabinet lets a boarding site return a bathed dog dry at pick-up.
Through which channels do pet drying cabinets reach buyers: online marketplaces or grooming distributors?
Online marketplaces move 46.3% of pet drying cabinet revenue in 2025, about USD 236.1 million. Home boxes are light enough to ship as one parcel, and buyers compare chamber litres, temperature caps and decibel ratings on screen before ordering one for home use.
Grooming equipment distributors carry USD 139.7 million, 27.4%, since salons want installation, spare motors and warranty service; the Jirpet range reaches Australian salons this way. Specialty pet retail sells USD 90.8 million, 17.8%, and brand direct stores USD 43.4 million, 8.5%, led by the PETKIT web shop. Distributor share falls slowly as salon cabinets begin to appear on business marketplaces.
Which safety standards and product rules govern a heated pet drying cabinet?
Two instruments shape the pet drying cabinet: IEC 60335-2-23, published on 9 June 2016, and the European Union (EU) General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR), applying from 13 December 2024. Both treat a heated drying box as a household appliance with a duty of safe design.
The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) standard 60335-2-23, edition 6.0, covers appliances for the care of skin or hair of persons or animals rated up to 250 volts (IEC 60335-2-23:2016). Cabinet makers test heater, fan and temperature-cut-out behaviour against it, which is why heat cut-outs such as the PETKIT 40-degree limit appear in product specifications.
Regulation (EU) 2023/988, the GPSR, adopted on 10 May 2023, replaced the old General Product Safety Directive and applies from 13 December 2024 (Regulation (EU) 2023/988 on EUR-Lex). It repeals Directive 2001/95/EC, so every pet drying cabinet sold to European consumers now falls under the newer regulation, including boxes sold only through marketplaces. Douglas Insights counts this rule as one reason Europe grows 5.87% a year, slower than the 7.03% global rate.
What if household pet drying cabinet adoption stalls, or doubles, before 2035?
Base, slower and faster cases put the 2035 pet drying cabinet market at USD 1.01 billion, USD 806.5 million and USD 1.24 billion. Home penetration is the swing factor, because it carries 3.14 of the 6.62 volume points in the base case.
The base case uses 6.62% unit growth and 0.38% price growth for 7.03% a year. The slower case cuts unit growth to 4.9% and lets prices slip 0.2% a year, as might follow a widely reported heat injury; revenue then grows 4.69% to USD 806.5 million. The faster case lifts unit growth to 8.3% and price growth to 0.9% on large-box adoption, giving 9.27% a year and USD 1.24 billion. One extra point of yearly unit growth adds USD 98.4 million to the 2035 total; one point less removes USD 90.4 million.
Published forecasts for drying boxes and cabinets run from about 5.6% to 15% a year. The 7.03% here sits in the lower half, because the model prices in mix-driven price stagnation and does not assume salon cabinets replace hand-held blasters. Trade signals such as the Groomers’ Day at Interzoo 2026 support the base case rather than the faster one.
Douglas Exclusive: the Pet Drying Cabinet Airflow and Heat Atlas
The Pet Drying Cabinet Airflow and Heat Atlas is a Douglas Insights model built from 16 inputs: 7 product records from maker and distributor listings, 3 ownership and trade-fair datasets, and 6 published growth estimates. The atlas maps each cabinet by chamber litres, airflow, temperature ceiling, noise and list price, then reads price per litre against air moved.
The first finding is a shared heat ceiling. All four records that publish a temperature limit cap chamber air at 40 degrees Celsius or lower; the Edemco F500 runs at 72 to 95 degrees Fahrenheit. Heat is settled. Brands compete elsewhere.
The second finding is that salon buyers pay for air, not space. Home boxes cost USD 4.32 per litre for the 135-litre Homerunpet unit and USD 6.33 per litre for the 60-litre AirSalon Max. The 405-litre Jirpet C-PLUS lists at AUD 14.81 per litre, yet it moves 4,000 cubic metres of air an hour, about 111 times the 600 litres a minute of the compact Jirpet F1. Douglas Insights reads the gap as the core of salon pricing: drying time, measured in dogs per hour, sets the price band. Noise has converged too, at 40 to 45 dB across the four records that publish it. The atlas suggests the next price premium lies in airflow per litre for medium dogs, the space between 135-litre home boxes and salon cabins.
How the model turns 1.046 million pet drying cabinets into USD 510.0 million?
The model multiplies 1.046 million pet drying cabinets by a realised USD 487.6 average to reach USD 510.0 million for 2025. Five format models and five regional models sit beneath that single line, each priced at realised rather than list levels.
Units are built per format: 621,900 compact home boxes, 171,200 large home boxes, 87,600 professional single-bay cabinets, 16,600 multi-bay cabinets and 148,700 cage and kennel dryer cabinets. Format prices of USD 342, USD 548, USD 1,240, USD 3,650 and USD 230 weight to the USD 487.6 blend. Home units are cross-checked against 94 million United States and 139 million European pet households, an implied penetration below 0.6%. Published 2025 base estimates for drying boxes and cabinets span USD 140.7 million to USD 693.4 million, and USD 510.0 million sits inside that span. Volume grows 6.62% a year to 1.986 million units in 2035 and price 0.38% a year, so revenue compounds at 7.03%. Regional totals reconcile to the global line within USD 0.1 million in both 2025 and 2035, and segment 2035 values sum to within 0.2% of USD 1.01 billion. Readers following related demand can compare the Pet Health Monitoring System Market, the Nordic Pet Care Market and the Pet Nutritional Supplement Market.
